Title: Swivel vs fixed Brush?
Post by: Fin Clearview on July 01, 2014, 08:37:50 pm
I changed to swivel a few weeks ago and tbh I don't know how I ever did without it. IMO you cant clean a window over a conservatory from the side properly without it.

I've championed swivels for years, in fact, I pestered Alex Gardiner to finally have a "proper"one manufactured (we used to have to use modified broom swivels before). I couldn't work without one for sure, IMO they are as important as the pole itself!! You don't have to move your body half as much either when using one. ;)

I use both as I like the carbon necks and the swivels

I use a modified tecbuk extension with swivel on half of a Gardiners resi neck because I like using the long tecbuk extension as opposed to Gardiners shorter (long arm) extension resi neck. I did speak to Gardiners to suggest a longer arm and hope they do one in the near future.

i much prefer the swivel type but have the aqua tap on mine so it becomes a bit awkward to say the least when you have two items swivelling around on the end of the pole but you can do it :)

A close ran poll, we heard from a few swivellers but would of been good to hear from a few more fixers, personally like I said, you find it almost impossible to get in the corners when working over a conservatory from the side.

I have a swivel on the van but couldn't get on with it.

I think it is brilliant for getting into the corners of those windows that can only be got to from the side, ie., windows above a conservatory, but I found the problem is how to scrub the window sill on the same window only needing to use half the width of the brush.

i'd never heard of them untill Dave wood shown me his, i quickly ordered one to try and tightened the screw up a touch so it was slightly stiffer but its all i use now, makes conservatories and those windows where you have to reach them from an angle at the side of a car or wall etc much better as the brush sits flat on the glass.

Personally I didn't like the swivel, have found just altering the gooseneck angle to be enough to get the brush sitting square to the glass
