I have just been round to see someone who has had 2 sets of french doors, a glazed front door and a couple windows newly installed.
The problem is they look smeary in sunlight but perfect on overcast days after the builders cleaned them. This applies to every window not just the ones they fitted, as they cleaned them all.
The buiders say they only used household window cleaning solution.
I couldn't see what he was looking at cos it was raining.
Its not sealant from a dirty cloth or anything like that and they're not blown.
Just wondered if anyone has come across similar and how was it resolved.
Cheers
Alan

Windolene is a nightmare with wfp but I can't imagine a builder using that stuff. It looks like it leaves a greasy residue behind.

Traditional glass and mirror cleaners contain IPA,ammonia, solvents, etc, and can leave a greasy film behind on the glass which is usually very noticeable on sunny days, we find magic eraser pads dunked in a bucket of warm water very effective at removing these residues, if you are cleaning many windows make sure you change the water after every few windows, then just finish off with your wfp or trad system, of course you will be charging extra for deep cleaning these windows, for anyone who has not tried magic eraser pads to deep clean glass they really are an amazing tool to have as no wfp (hot or cold) or trad system will deep clean glass like these little fellows.

I've never tried them but I'll give it a go.
Thank you

No Problem Alan, if you are going to purchase them from your local supermarket try and get the new ones from Flash as they are made from compressed melamine and are far more durable than the standard melamine eraser pads.
