Title: Hydropower di kits
Post by: Suffolkcleaners on June 23, 2014, 08:22:51 am
Hi guys.. just wondering if anybody uses one of these.... As i live in a flat i can't make my own pure water so having to travel and buy it once or twice a week but they sell these kits at the window clean centre and depending on model it can produce 1200 or 2400 litres of pure water before changing resin... I think you just connect through your mains...

Trying to work out if it would save me alot of money in the longrun.... Anybody have one of these? :-)

Get a tds metre and check your tap/mains TDS, anything over 80ish and you'll smash through resin (not sure what this hydropower D.I is though)
Higher the TDS the more resin you use. 1200litres and then a change of resin doesn't sound like alot, even with 'normal resin' thats £70-80 every week...

Ok thanks for comments guys... i think your right..it's too much of a hard water area. Will just put up with travelling 60-70  miles and buying the pure water until i move into a house :-)

Haven't you got a mate more local that you can give a drink and have a RO and ibc set up in their garden?

Don't understand, if you can connect a D.I. to your mains then why cant you do the
same with an R.O. ?

Forget unger's silly DI kits, total waste of money.

Just get a standard resin vessel like this one:

It will do the same job for half the price and you just fill it with resin, you don't have to buy unger's ridiculous "resin in a sock" thing.

And going forward, whenever you think of Unger and Waterfed Pole, just do a huge belly laugh.

Thanks pete... I live in a flat so with that resin vessel you kindly sent would this do the job if i just connected to my tap and then fill the 25 litre barrells up? Abit annoying carrying up and down stairs but if it works..... How many litres would you get before changing resin? I would have to get a tds also.. Was just worried about being in such a hard water area as to how much resin it would cost me each time i filled up my 400 litre tank?
