Lately i have been leaving my machine and buffer tank in the van to save time but the customers tap can't seem to keep up, i have 50m of 1/2 hose on a normal hoselock reel running to a wheelie bin in the van which has a float valve fitted near the top then a 3/4 on off valve at the bottom, connected to my machine via about 2m of 3/4 hose but i seem to do about 20mins of solid cleaning before running out of water then having to wait ages for it to refill, what can i do to speed up the fill rate?

your float valve might be blocked.

I carry a 500 litre tank in the van which I have full before I go to a jobs. Plug the customers hose into it! My tank also has a float valve and then I have a head of water which never runs out. The valve will restrict water flow if it is blocked with limescale but will also be slow if customers pressure is poor. Is it a 1/2 inch or 3/4 valve?

Think its a 1/2 inch one, need to get a bigger tank now. Been offered an old ibc that's had red diesel in it and isn't on a pallet but its free!

Fit a 3/4 valve because it will allow the water to pass through quicker. Just remember your weight limit of your van and water is extremely heavy and dangerous in transit if it's not in a proper baffled tank and fixed down

If your using an Ibc then don't bolt it to your van or your insurance will be void, instead juct bolt some timber around it and maybe throw a ratchet strap over to the anchor points in the van, try to drive empty if you can and fill up at your nearest hydrant or customers supply, to keep risk of it moving / sliding down, if you bolt it down it is classed as a vehicle modification and so will need to be declared to insurance, I too run a 500ltr baffled as by the time i include my machine and all bits I would be over weight if I used a 1000ltr ;D

Had a look at the ibc today but it was a right mess so I'm going to get a 400 litre upright tank and strap it against the bulkhead and get a 3/4 ball valve in it so hopefully that will do the trick.
