A couple of weeks ago, driven by my lack of organisation, I purchased a whiteboard; you know a white board you can write on with pens, that rubs off with some bog roll.
I divided it up into 3 areas;
1. Days of the week
2. Things to do
3. Outstanding quotes
The days of the week I plan what we're to clean (roughly). I keep a detailed spreadsheet, which works great, but this plans out my week.
The 'Things to Do' I write down the stuff - even the minor stuff - that needs doing that I never seem to keep on top of.
And the Outstanding quotes, are the details I normally write down on the back of fag packets and lose.
This week, so far, has been a top earning week, purely because I'm better organised.
I keep the white board propped up just beside my desk; it's almost a game trying to get the jobs done so I can wipe 'em off.
Just thought I'd share! ;D

You don't smoke, do you Tosh?
I'm a sucker for writing a list. All the various jobs that pop into head during the day get wrote onto a list. Quote conservatory clean for 12 xxx avenue, get van insurance quote, speak to xxx regarding xxx etc etc etc. it helps me stay organised and actually get the jobs done rather than taking up a bit of memory in my brain until I no longer remember.

Good idea, I do similar with excersise plan, but place it on the fridge, and cross off each day completed sessions.

So im thinking every time you take a beer out of the fridge to exercise your right arm you keep a tally? ;D

my missus has one and i feel sorry for her when i look how many things she has do faff around doing during the week.she still forgets stuff to do!! ;D
i use round software(george) and update at the end of every working day.there is an option to type in a worknote on every customer account.its easy to stay organised for future f/s/g cleans for example or skip next clean or whatever.
a simple pen and notepad in the van for enquires/quotes.i also get "walk up" potential customers to text me their full address when i hand them a business card during a busy day.having a PDA also helps for updating work as i clean.
having proper round software make a massive difference in organisation for keeping on top of everything to do with running a window cleaning business IMO.

My white board tells me things that your George can't. And I bet I can write "Change resin at the weekend" on my whiteboard quicker than you can type it into George; if indeed George has that capability.
My spreadsheet is better than George too (IMO of course).

also george allows you to "see" your round in its full glory!(days/weeks/months/etc)in diary view so i organise work weeks in advance.chopping and changing here and there.
its absolutely the best £50 ive ever spent on my business.
each to there own tosh.good idea to have a whiteboard if you have lots of things to do that you tend to forget.i dont. ;D

My motivation is seeing on aworka what I've done so far this year and what I did same time last year. I'm ahead on last year so want to keep pushing that,. Have a note book in van for things to do , quotes , who to call ect
