Title: Any Wordsmiths About for a Price Increase Letter?
Post by: Tom White on June 15, 2014, 02:11:17 pm
Has anyone got a template they use for putting up the prices of their customer's window cleaning?

I'm not after anything with a lot of 'fluff' in it.

How about

I'm currently using this:                                                                  Date ____________ 2014

Dear ______________________

We really appreciate you trusting us on your property and letting us clean your windows; thank you!

Due to the rising costs of doing business over several years we cannot hold off a price elevation any longer and will apply a small increase as of our next visit. This is detailed below.

As ever we're committed to provide you with shiny panes and frames and look forward to continuing for you. Remember - if you're not happy in any way with the results then call us back within 24 hours of completion and we'll re-clean the offending window(s) at no further charge.

Warm regards,

Mine went something like:

RE: PRICE INCREASE FOR WINDOW CLEANING

Dear Customer,
In order to maintain a viable service, it has become necessary for me to increase prices as from my next visit.  In some cases I have not increased my prices for a number of years.  I appreciate that there have been issues with the economy in recent years so I have delayed increasing my prices for as long as possible.

Therefore, from my next visit, I propose an increase in price for your window cleaning  to:

         £

I believe that this figure represents fair value and I understand that it compares reasonably with other window cleaners who are also running the service as a full time business

   Thank you for your custom.

Dear Mrs Jones,

We are the only loveable fluffy window cleaners in your area.

Using the latest Gardiner fluffy flocked brushes we will fluff your windows to a beautiful shine. We are so conscientious that we reach across and get those fluffy spiders' nests out of the corners of your windows with our long fluffy sticks too.

In fact if I reach over too far and haven't done my Kegel exercises for a while I might "do a fluff" at the same time!

Hope that's not too much fluff for you Tosh!

It should be short , polite  & not sound like you are trying to be a bigger outfit than you actually are ! Customers do not want to read your waffle about economy & the price increase of waterfed brushes etc , as they know it's balls !

Things like "Our Office Number is 076478888 ( When your office is your living room )
Or "WE hope to keep you as a valued customer (When you actually work on your Todd)
Or " It's beyond our control  (in fact it's well within my control, we both know I'm just looking to up my wages)

Customers ain't stupid and to treat them as stupid will only annoy them.

Dear Customer,
Due to costs rising (fuel, insurances, water etc.) we have to increase our prices.
This is our first increase in 4 years.
From July the change is by £……….
Our service does include all glass, window frames, sills, UPVC doors and door frames so we hope you agree we still provide excellent value for money.
Many Thanks

To the point not worded brilliantly on purpose - works for me ,,, however one customer sent it back with his payment and scribbled new van time then !!! across it ... fortunately I know its his sense of humour

Hi Everyone.

I think it's important to mention how prices will be fixed for at least 3 years too.  You can get large increases then.  People like to know when you increase your prices that you will not be doing it year on year.  People know then what they will be paying for your service for 3 years and they can plan their money accordingly.

I hardly lose a customer every time I increase prices and I think a lot of it is down to that.   :)

Agree that informing customer no further increases for 2/3 years gives them some peace of mind...
Also, it's a bit tricky when you've bought a brand new van....but I'll see how it goes...
