Title: lamb vac motor

Just bought a new vac motor for my prochem from a prochem dealer. I was amazed to find it faulty and making seriously loud noises just as bad as the one I removed
Has this happened anybody before

could you of over tightened it and squashed the casing a little - sounds like you have!!

i
No I only had them hand tight
I turned on the vacs for a test and it was noisy straight off

This usually happens either when over tightened or the vac has been damaged in transit. I  have heard of someone having a washer trapped inside as well. Lok for any indentations on the fan casing.

has it blown?

if you turn the blades with your fingers through the hole do the fins scrape the casing? if so the casing is touching the fins and causing the noise and it will blow

if thats the case take the motor out and try to pry the casing away from the fins until they spin freely

if its not that maybe someone else can help

best to always spin the blades through the hole with your fingers before you fit it so you can see if they spin freely, that way you can check its ok on arrival. They are suppose to be tested before sending out the factory

It is working and not touching the casing it's.just making a loud whistling noise

For some reason its working perfect now
But I have noticed 1 of the wires are scorched and the connection box is a tad brown any ideas

If the connectors are screw type 'chokky block' , sometimes the wire can be pushed in too far and the plastic gets trapped under the screw. This will bite partially through so the current jumps across making a buzzing sound and a lot of heat.

John and kinver both spot on it was a brown cable not even connected to the vac it was going to the capacitator if that is the right word. The wire had started to melt the plastic of the machine and was brittle. The wire was replaced, the capacitator tested and away we go
