Title: Messers still pop up every now and again
Post by: Ian101 on June 12, 2014, 10:41:55 pm
Messer 1 .....

A long standing customer asked me if I would clean a friends of hers house as the lady kept getting let down by un reliable window cleaners (alarm bells should have rang)

So even though a little of my normal patch I took her on .. have to call night before as gate like fort knox so 1 clean in and calls her tonight saying will be there tomorrow ...

10 mins later she calls back but my phone now on silent as after 6pm so goes to answer machine and message left along lines of "Ive just looked at the windows and there still clean so don't bother with mine tomorrow"  ::)roll ::)roll

For a stand alone job @ ten quid dormer cant be ass ed  with explaining we don't do dial a clean and as its under £20 we dont do bimonthly so have blocked her number ... harsh ... short sighted ... perhaps but stuffed full these days  :)

Messer 2 ..........

New build estate of quite expensive houses .. got a few on there and pick up one or two every time Im on there cleaning ...

Mrs Skanky sticks her head out of window last month whilst Im cleaning one opposite hers and growls

"ow much ? " at me ...

£16 once a month I reply ...

"sounds expensive"

compared to what ?

"well just does"

a good job does cost good money

"hmmmmm ... me old man has just done em so start me next month"

she texts me later with her phone number and says lemme know when your next on estate ........... so texts her tonight telling her I will be there tomorrow.

Gets text back "just do upstairs as my partner did downstairs today .. thank you"

my reply was - Only problem is the dirty water from above will mess up the downstairs windows so we don't do upstairs cleaning only for this reason. Prob just best to leave you out ??

text back  "ok do them all  as cant wait another month for upstairs.

Maybe jumping gun a little but got messer written all over this one I thinks. Time will tell.

Used to give em 3 strikes but to be honest just not got the time anymore to be messed about.

You could try to educate but not worth it.

Messer 2

Make sure that the first clean is at a good price because I reckon it will be a "one-off" followed by "as and when" if she's given the chance!

Wise Words:-

Someone on here said the answer to messer problems is to have too much work - then you can dump them with no worries.

just had canvasser out,   picked up a few ,    out of 8 ive kept 4.      with experience you can tell messers,    if they want them doing just get them done regular,   you know the ones who will say they are not dirty today , leave them till next time..
you just want reliable / regular customers who apreciate you  if you do a good job.

When I quote jobs the words I hate hearing is "well my old window cleaner was cheaper at £x"
I usually say well why don't you have him anymore which usually is followed by he's unreliable or doesn't do a good job.
