Any advice please, collected a 100% wool rug which had been left outside in the rain for sometime then dried, but smell foisty/rotten. Blasted it with pressure washer, aggitated enz-all, rinsed and dried, but still smell.

With over 20 years in the industry.......why didn't you leave it at the customers house and leave it alone?

It's probably the best advice you'll get.
last year some one called me with a wool rug he left on the washing line after he had cleaned it and it rained on it. He then put it in the garage to dry out. When he found out that the rug smelled he called me to try and cure the problem.
I told him it would be a £50 minimum call out charge and that in all probability, the smell could not be removed as the rug is ruined.
So this guy tells me he would not pay £50 and he would get a Rug Doctor and clean it himself....which I told him would do no good ::)roll
The moral of the story is that someone has a rug that is probably not worth a lot and it's pretty well trashed in the first place.
And as many may do, they will run around in circles trying to cure a problem that is not worth pursuing either time or profit wise.
I'd rather be chasing jobs for 2 or 3 hundred quid rather than dealing with someones sha**ed rug ;D

I quoted £120 for a 4x3 and explained that a good chance it was ruined, but you nether now. Expensive rug in the thousands so worth a gamble. I will get paid, would of been nice completely remove the odour but as improved slightly. Never stop learning in this industry and not proud to ask for a bit of help now and again.

You could try immersing it in a bath of strong deodoriser and let it soak.

was it completely dry when you took it? is it completely since you've cleaned it?
A heavy hand of sanatiser with a long dwell might of cured it.
As Mike says just walk of these stupid jobs. I take them on occasionally and always regret then lol

15 mins soak in a pit with lots of anti microbial.

As Stuart says. This is probably a mould/fungal problem so you need a broad spectrum product which deals with mould/fungi, bacteria etc. Most deodourisers only deal with bacteria.
Chemspec 429 plus is probably the best on the market. Not cheap but good things never are.
Wash it again then soak it in the product leave over night then extract the hell out of it. Then the important part, get it dry as fast as possible. No guarantees, it may still be beyond redemption.
