did this conservatory clean today...could not get hold of a conservatory ladder so used painters tresles and a scaffold board...tough job but pretty nice day, well paid and I KNOW I could have halved the time with a proper ladder but they are £400+...
Only used WFP as a final wash down and rinse, the rest of it was done with pvc cleaner, mop on extension pole, sponge/scourer and hose pipe connected to outside tap.
Definitely a market out there...MUST get a ladder...anyone got one for sale??

:'(i need to look at my prices i charged that to wash down a whole house :-[
-
He hasn't mentioned how much he charged?
-
Steve
You can hire them from http://www.hss.co.uk/g/87101/Conservatory_Roof_Access_System.html
It might be worth while if you have a couple to do in a week Plus the time you will save might offset the cost.
Just a thought

I'm going to bookmark this page and use it to remind Roger (Squeaky) what a cracking job you can do with a WFP in the right hands; when he starts going on about 'spotting machines'.

you can buy the ladders here http://www.austinwhite.co.uk/eshop/product.php?xProd=179

Tosh, I never said it doesn't do plastics well, of course it does.
I couldn't match that.
I can just do glass better that's all.... ;)

i use the conservatory ladders, mine cost £480 with delivery from ladders999,great tool to have,i did over forty conservatory cleans last summer and i charge between £55-£75 a clean, takes about 2 hours to clean, will be easy this summer as i now have wfp and will only take about 1 hour, use gg4 and big sponge to clean the plastic, comes up like new.
-
Nice work steve, Fancy doing mine?

Alright, I know I'm stupid but what exactly is a conservatory ladder? I get the general idea because you don't want to put weight on the plastic but whats wrong with just using a set of steps?
-
I have got a conservatory to clean next month so I better get my ladder hire booked now. Can’t afford to buy one at the moment, after a few cleans it might be different.
What I would like to know, what’s the best chemical to use?
UPVC cleaner
Traffic film remover
GG3

With a conservatory ladder you can actually go on the roof without causing any damage
Follow this link you will see what i mean

vince with the conservatory ladder you are able to clean all the plastic and decorative mouldings on top very easy, conservatorys come in different shapes and some will have the roof sloping back to the house these are difficult to clean even with the conservatry ladders, but now i have wfp these will not be a problem and will be much easier this year.last year i did over forty conservatory cleans and still managed to knock two of the decorative moudings off but was able to put them back easily as you are on top of the roof,if you was using wfp and knocked a finial off how would you be able to put it back?regards robert

Vince,
a conservatory ladder is held off the guttering by a glazing suction pad which is attached to the centre of the ladder.
This suction pad attaches to the glazing and acts as a stand off and a stability device.
At the top of this section of ladder is a hinged second section which has two horizontal spreader bars which sit on the underside of ladder section.
This hinged section is lowered onto the roof struts and disributes the weight evenly and safely. It also has a kneeling platform on castors running up and down the ladder, which allows the cleaner to move up and down the area of the roof in safety and comfort.
What I have found is that once you are up there, a roof is actually a very small area to clean!! and pretty easy too ;) ;)
I tried traffic film remover yesterday and was not impressed.
I have upvc cream cleaner which I apply on a wet sponge then hose off with tap water and giving it a final wash and rinse with pure water.

Steve
What make of UPVC cleaner did you use?
Kevin

if you want to do a five star job you can use car wax such as mer, seems to be best! be carefull what wax you use as some do more harm than good! just an extra to charge for! it also cleans the upvc pretty good also!
give a like new look but a bit of work to do it. worth thinking on though,
-
Thanks for those answers, now I know what a conservatory ladder is I think they are a good idea.
Once again the forum comes up trumps. I can't tell you how much I have learned since I joined.
