Title: Home address on website ?
Post by: Ste b on June 09, 2014, 06:19:02 pm
So just about to go live with my website, the designer has put my home address on it and im unsure as to leave it on or take it off,

Would you/do you have your home address on yours?

If you do, do you get much junk mail etc

Would you leave it on or take it off ?

I do, yeah.
Not had anymore junk mail than I got before putting it on.
All our junk mail is from Royal Mail, charity bags and pizza places.
Can't see them searching tinterweb for addresses.

Its a lot more professional to have your address on your website! Shows your more unlikely to be a fly by night!

I'd definitely advise using your address and phone numbers on your site - any site I see that doesn't have full contact info immediately makes me think "what have they got to hide"?

Whats the worst that can happen from people knowing your address?

I think if you put your full address on via a google map on your contact page, potential customers feel more
assured that they are dealing with a legitimate business with a real legitimate address, and will be more inclined
to contact you to hopefully do some real business.

Best Regards

No need to put your full address on your website just put your town or city and
a landline number.
Plus any other contact numbers.
I don't know if anything could happen but why take the chance.
A landline number will have your area code which would be good enough for me.

I wouldn't do it.
You might end up with a load of your customers slashing in your back garden.

its the first time i put my adress on one of them,     i got a letter asking if i played music on my premisses,  if i do i can be charged a fee for a licence,  i thought it was a scam,    it had a website and contact number, and ways to pay.
i just ripped it up and binned.
anyone else heard of this.
you will be getting charged to fart next,   causing polution. ???

Yes if you have a shop or factory and you play music you need a special licence.
I think it applies to most if not all business premises.
It wont apply to your home so I would say it was a scam.

It's PRS.
Everyone that plays recorded music needs to pay it.
It's why places like B&Q play crap covers of music so they don't have to pay PRS to the original artist.

They phone me every once in a while.

Not a problem because I don't listen to music at work and even if I did no general public comes in to my place of work.

If anyone wants to find your address then its easy enough - not having it on your website won't stop them.

I think its illegal to not have an operating address on any website or company literature.
