Title: Portable carpet cleaning machine
Post by: D4ch0l on June 08, 2014, 01:38:21 pm
Hi,

I am running domestic and commercial cleaning company and as addition to general cleaning I've been thinking about doing carpet cleaning as well. I know that TM cleaning machines are much better, but at the moment I can't afford TM. Therefore I am thinking about buying some portable machine, but I don't really know what to go for?

Could anyone recommend me something in a range of £2000-3000 pounds. Will I buy anything half decent for this sort of money?

Many Thanks,
Adam

I'd look at alltec they do a great range of machines and offer packages and if you spend enough you'll get a free training course which will show you how to use the machinery and products properly.

£2000-3000 pounds will buy a suitable portable machine - but what's your total budget as there's a lot more to buy than just the machine...

I know this isn't really what you asked, you are more interested in buying a portable machine, but if you put your money where your mouth is normally between your nose on your chin ha ha, and add a couple of thousand to your top budget It has been known to buy a complete Truck mount and a van for around £5000, as long as you know what you are buying and preferably somebody with a sound business that is upgrading to new equipment you will probably do alright, you will find that if you concentrate on the carpet cleaning side rather than the general cleaning you will earn a lot more money and for a lot less effort So the extra couple of grand is neither here nor there (think about it)

Or you could save yourself all the expense of buying all the equipment, training, marketing and additional insurance costs... Simply make friends with an established carpet cleaner and sub contract the work out...
Trust me, buying the machine is the easy bit :-)

Good advice from Russ there.
For now I'd keep your money in your pocket and do some market research to see if there is an actual market. Then spend some time working out how much all the marketing etc is going to cost you.
It's not as simple as buying a machine and 'hey presto,' you're a carpet cleaner.

He is already doing business and probably markeing too. Has customers that will offer extra services to. Just an add on to his business.
Go on with that man. Most of multi cleaning companies are using cheaper equipment then you are going to buy i say.

I always forget that Woodbridge sell portables I associate them with tms as mine is from there, just as a side note what carpet are you planning to clean? Domestic or commercial?

Hi Guys,

Thank you all for sound advices. I was thinking about both really, domestic and commercial as I work in both environments.

I do use professional carpet cleaner from my area at the moment, but I have already given him quite a lot of work and was thinking that if I do it myself I will be much better off.

I don't have any commission from work I do give him, but I was already thinking about it if I do decide to put carpet cleaning section on my website.
Perhaps doing it first will be better idea than buying a carpet cleaning machine. As someone mentioned.. Only because I will have a carpet cleaning machine will not mean I am a carpet cleaner.

Does any of you work with cleaning companies on the commission basis? How does it work for you? Is it based on  percentage?

Many Thanks,
Adam
