What is your choice of deodorisor for carpets with the usual affending odour`s......especially pets!?
-
You need an odour neutraliser not a deodoriser buddy

Craftex Clean Cotton Bactericidal Deodoriser

I agree, we use these too. Very, very good.

Odour Plus seems like one to try, cheers!
-
Odour kill plus is definitely the one to use, the clean cotton smells realy nice but when the carpets dry the offending odour will return
-
Not if its dealt with correctly Stuart. Pet soiling needs dealing with properly to have any chance of success. Just cleaning with some smelly stuff won't suffice. Often the urine has gone through into the underlay and floor below. As urine turns into uric salts which absorb moisture from the atmosphere, unless these are dealt with they will constantly give off an odour.
There are a number of products which are effective as long as they come into contact with the contaminant which is causing the odour and as much of it as physically possible is extracted out.
Best products:
Chemspec Urine Contamination Treatment
Chemspec Kill Odour Plus (this is a deodourising pre-spray which cleans as well)
Chemspec Kill Odour
Craftex Urine Treatment
Craftex Pre-enzyme Solution

Can you use Craftex Clean Cotton Bactericidal Deodoriser in the solution tank or is it supposed to be sprayed on and left to do its job, as usual I cant quite understand the instructions on Craftex products.
-
Depends what you are using it for. If you just want to leave a nice smell behind and also kill off any bacteria in the carpet then adding to the tank is fine. You can also use it this way as a rinse if you have used something like a urine treatment. Nursing homes we supply use it this way after pre treatment with Pre Enzyme Solution.
It can also be mixed with a pre spray and applied that way. Would guess most people use it for the fragrance.

Stuart, I would agree with you on the Clean Cotton its not truly effective I have found after only a short period.
John, sound comments and will try Chemspec - its not one Ive used so will see if it lives up to the words of the wise of this forum!
-
John would an ozone generator help ?
-
I always thought that a deodoriser neutralised odours. how stupid can one be?

Don'y worry Peter, we'll forgive you. ;D
They will neutralise odours as long as the product contains whats needed to deal with whats causing the odour. Its no good just using an anti bacterial product if the odour is being caused by mould/ mildew. It will probably make it worse. I also find people don't use enough of the product so it diesn't reach all of the problem.
