Title: Strange request
Post by: Timmy Boy on June 05, 2014, 10:21:13 am
Hi Guys
Ive been asked to 'Steam Clean' 400sqm of block paving on a garage forecourt at an audi dealership. The last time I hired a 'steam cleaner' was a whale hot wash when I was dealing with a chewing gum epidemic in a high street which I did need the heat for but with this its more tyre marks. I have priced the job on taking a hot water pressure washer and a whirl away but I would rather just run with a cold one if I can help it. I have asked them if the specifically want it 'steam cleaned' and they said they just want it 'as clean as it can be'. Can anyone suggest a good chemical to use in this scenario please to use with a cold system or any other suggestions would be helpful.

Many Thanks

Tim

We just use cold water on car dealership forecourts. Only use hot for gum.

That's what I thought, do you use any products to remove tyre marks or do they come off with the rotary usually?

Hi
I often get asked for steam cleaning , on carpets, ovens and outside.

I don't use steam on any of them. Carpets is hwe, ovens good chems and as stated for court block work is pw with turbo or fsc.

I think when muggles ask for professional cleaning they think of steam cleaning but don't really know what they need

Sounds to me like either they have just got their wording wrong, or that they are assuming hot water makes anything cleaner than cold.

In this case hot water will not benefit you at all. Stick to cold.

Probably the second, as in your example, I would personally ask for my carpets to be steam cleaned, as i have no experience in carpet cleaning and assume you steam clean. Now i know you don't. You see my point? (not sure if i explained it very well)
