MACC:ONE OFF THE SYSTEMS I RUN IS A RO-MAN 100 GALLONS PER DAY WITH SOMME SUCCESS,YOU CAN BUY AN ADD ON TO IT TO PRODUCE MORE FOR I N THINK 65 SQUID.PERSONALLY I NOW SHOULD HAVE GONE FOR A BIGGER ONE CUS AS MY ROUND HAS INCREASED MY OUTPUT HAS STAYED THE SAME. FALSE ECONOMY REALLY
WATCHING BRETTS SYSTEM I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE BIGGER DI FILTER FROM RO-MAN BUT USE MY DI VESSELS TO POLIUSH INSTEAD.

Hi Macc, I've got a 200GPD pumped Ro-Man unit and I think it was well worth it. My tapwater TDS is 148 and I get a TDS of 1.5 on the output. Waste ratio is about 1 of pure to 1.5 of waste. As Gaza said, you can buy an upgrade kit to make it a 300GPD unit and then the waste is 1 of pure to 1 of waste.
With my system I fill my 2 water butts, a total of 420L in about 14hrs, I just put it on when i go to work in the morning and its full in the evening.
Hope this helps.

Merlin, switch it off when you have enough water, fill a 1000ltr holding tank, waste is only about 70% which is a lot lower than most.
-
thanks guys for replys, ro man or merlin, which one then? macc. ???
-
I run a merlin and like how much water it can produce, although i don`t need 3000 litres day i know i can get it if i needed it,Gaz
-
From what i've heard, and i stand to be corrected on this, the merlin waste ratio is quite high if your water pressure isnt high or if you havent got a pump on it. I'm going to get an upgrade to my 200GPD Ro-Man to make it a 300GPD, I dont need the extra capacity but the 300GPD unit has a 1-1 waste to pure ratio and so my prefilters will last for approx 2000 gallons more. I'm not worried too much about the waste water as I'm not on a meter :D
If you need more capacity Ro-Man have just introduced a 450GPD unit. But as i said before, i get 420L in 14 Hrs, if you need 400L per day then a roman would do your job very nicely, plus it's cheaper than a merlin even when you buy the pumped version.
-
thanks, roman it is, from what you said TIM and good old GAZA "THE GRAND DAD" of WFP :o im sold. 420ltrs a day is more than enough. ;D
from what you both say its got to be 300gpd.
will let you no when im up & running. 2-3 weeks i reckon.many thanks. ;D ;D ;D

You've made a good choice, i'd recommend getting the pumped version, it'll give you the most pure water and isn't then dependant on your tap pressure. Mine is 50psi but with the pump i get a really good rejection rate, 99%.
If you dont have the room for a 1000L storage tank, just use 2 or 3 210L butts from B&Q linked with some hose between the outlet taps.
When you order from RoMan, get a float valve as well, this will shut off the pump when your water tank is full. I also got the water meter, you can set it up to let you know when to change your pre-filters.

cheers tim. i was looking on site & saw the pumped version, GAZA said about pump so thats sorted & i did see the float valve, its only £15 so thats a must toooo.
think its about £300 + postage, cant remember but now i no my needs it get some prices.
can any one do me a deal???????
macc. ;D ;D ;D
-
If you order over so much your postage is free from roman, i know i didnt have to pay any postage with mine.
Also order some 1/4" tubing as well, it allows you to put the water tank/s further away from the RO.

cool. going to work out where its going sunday, the kids come then & my boy likes to help out, bit of a bonding time, just hope for once he doesnt charge me for his time, little git. bless him. ;D

Macc.. a 200GPD pumped unit will do you just fine.
I use one of these and average 600ltrs a day out of it.
Yes you can add another membrane to make it a 300GPD one but you will get more than enough out of the 200GPD one for now and then if your water needs increase then you can add the other membrane. You can also take into account that if you produce into a large container such as a 1000ltr IBC you can fill it up over the weekend and start your week with 1000ltrs and only have to top up 2 or 3 nights during the week.
Thats the way we work and it is fine for us.
Hope this helps

I have just bought a Ro-man system and already I am thinking bigger would be better. However, its all really quite cheap and whatever you buy now can be upgraded later for very little money.
I think this is just part of the natural progression that happens when you get into it so accept its going to be like that. The good thing about the Ro-man system is you don't have to chuck the whole lot away and start again each time.
-
Macc it may be worth you checking the prices at GardinerPoleSystems I'll be placing quite a large order with them myself hopefully next week and I think their cheaper than ro-man, their 200gpd pumped ro-man is £213 + vat
-
???, im thinking. ;D

60 Gall per day for me
i run it per day i work, thus i work 3 days, its on for 3 FULL 24Hour periods
it works well for me :)
i start the week with 10 of 25 L barrels and a full 210 L rain water butt
RO-MAN postage is free over 95 quid
