Looking at gopro hero3 camera for surveying gutters.
Should I get black one or would silver one do?
Thanks
Jonathan

Both have wifi, so silver would do the job.
-
I bought the super duper one black 3 + hero thingy.
I dont use the remote and pic quality is fine on silver :)
So silver would do

I've had the cameras and none of them are as good or as simple as a good old mirror on a pole.

No chance. Also unprofessional when showing a client.

I have got a black 3+ and its great but a silver would be fine ;)

I have the White model (the basic one)...
Seems good enough to me... I took the following pictures of some gutter cleaning work

So how does this work? Does it show what's in the gutters in real time on your phone?

Yep... My iPhone connects to the GoPro via WiFi and I use the GoPro app to view what the camera sees directly on my screen.

Cheers. That's a very good idea. I think I'll copy it.

Go for it ;)
It beats paying £££ for a "professional" gutter cam kit!

How does that work if there is no wifi? surly your not gonna be able to connect to a wifi signal on every job. or am i missing something?
-
It has its own wi-fi between the camera and your phone.
It really is a must have, staff love it customers love it and i love it

Just a question with these. From what you are all saying they seem to work wirelessly to a monitor, is this true? If so what do you need to receive the signal. Is it 2.4ghz or wifi or something else?
Simon.

I don't think it's as simple as that as I think you need to use a go pro app
-
So you can view it through an iphone or iPad then?
Simon.

Yes both. You can record footage to a memory card then view the footage on anything that will play memory cards.
For live feed you you need each device to be able to connect to wifi.
So the camera puts out it's on wifi signal. You can connect any device to it which has wifi and you can run the go pro app on it.

The video is exceptionaly good quality, they were doing a deal on Groupon for them.

So are you saying that the GoPro connects directly to the iPhone/iPad via wifi or do you need to have a wifi base station set up? I can imagine the image quality would be brilliant as it's digital and high bandwidth.
Simon.
-
No base station necessary. The phone sees the gopro as a base station and logs onto it.

What david said!
The only down side is the live preview is only standard quality. Still good quality tho!
