ive been out with hubby for the first time this week , is it just a Essex thing ? or does everybody give out mean looks to other window cleaners ?
the looks people have been giving us are unreal , its not just to us too , a follow window cleaner that's a friend of ours says they do it to him as well ? strange

I always give a nod/beep and a wave to fellow window cleaners.
Think it annoys the grumpy ones quite a lot. ;D

A lot are miserable, like you're nicking their work.
I stop and have a chat with most i see.
A few i pass work to.
The particularly miserable ones i always make a point of winding up in any way i can.
Fret not Susan.

I usually blow a rasberry at them through the gaps in my missing teeth
-
I would've thought they'd blow you a kiss and wink at the gorilla.

It this the 'dirty look' type of thing that my missus keeps mentioning that I seem to miss when we're out and about?
Personally, I find it best not to guess at what a 'look' a person gives you means as there maybe many different unknown reasons for it.
I have found around here, as I guess it is with most places, most other window cleaners are usually very friendly.

Has she caught me pulling faces at you Ross ? :D ;D

All quite friendly around here...the way it should be :)

That goes to show how observant you are. It was her giving you the dirty look. Or is it dirty looks?
-
Bit of a mixed bag around the areas I work.
Some completely ignore me if I give a wave as I drive past, others wave back. Some give it the full on dirty looks, even some of the newer guys which is a bit bizzare.

Generally friendly where I live; no problems here.

i personaly think its old school windys .thinking that every new windy is compation with the state of the econamey every man and there dog are a window cleaners,,as i am old school .ive found that having my rounds canvased by wonna be windys they only last summer hols etc then vanish.causing the well established window cleaners to pick up the picese of a devistated round .imo thats why there is a lot of resentment. and justly so.ive been in this game long enough and see it time after time .

My wife often mentions about how someone gave her a dirty look but I always seem to miss it.

It's just an Essex thing.

None of that nonsense around here, unless they are Essex cleaners!
-
Can be very interesting in Liverpoolat times to say the least..
-
Quite friendly up here in west yorks , but I know most of them .Personally i think we could with a few more window cleaners of higher standard .
-
I always make a point of shooting out their tyres, cutting their hose or covering the front windows with muck once they disappear around the back.
We're a friendly bunch in Plymouth.

What is a 'dirty look'?
its a frown , a looking down there noise at you , a look of wanting a fight , maybe the same look as you would give out to someone that's shouting at the tv in a pub when your there to have a quite meal ??
-
most of the lads that work near me are a good bunch of guys.i still get a bit of banter/digs off the oldies on ladders about me using wfp though!! ;) ;D ;D
-
Dunno about dirty looks, round here its a mix of blanking you or just staring at you (usually done if there are two or more of Them in their ladder carrying car). There's a couple of good blokes I've chatted with and let on to, but mostly its just the vacant stare thing. Apart from the ignorant gorm in the sign written van I went out of my way to let thru in his van, only for him to pointedly look the other way. Manners maketh Man ::)roll
-
no we get the dirty look brigade here in The Netherlands too..... its happens alot more the closer you get to bigger towns/cities.
-
Welcome back Dave, long time no see. ;)
-
yes it's been a couple or three years....glad to hear your still alive and kicking!
-
Yes they love me in Walton and Kirkdale.not

I always let on to others and happy to chat away, I always pick up and give a tip or two,you find out which custies to stay away from, not because somebody else is doing them but I mean that they could be bad payers etc.
There's no need to be bitchy, there's more windows than window cleaners!!
