Is it not just satellite cables?

No harm from them.

No this was main cables coming straight from the pole. The electricity company are coming on Monday to tidy them up.

That wire wouldn't be heavy enough to supply a property with electricity from the mains pole.
I would say its a telephone cable.

why did you "have to " if you "were not happy" ?
could it not have waited until Tuesday after the electricity company had sorted it ?
Whos the boss ?, If the customer could not live with that then tuff titters.

Mate, why, why, why take a chance like that?

"Always walk away if there's a chance someone may later need to carry you away." I just made that up, but I like it!

Sod that, stupid if you ask me.  Bet the electric company didn't say  "oh your daughters getting married, we'll be round straight away"

Thing is you got away with it this time but if you consistently take chances with your life like that one day its going to bite you in the backside.

Sounds like a telephone cable to me, electricity comes underground!
Telephone cables cary 9 volts so not enough to harm you!

There are plenty of houses that have overhead power supply.

Your right but that cable is way to thin to be one of them a cable taking mains to a home will be insulated
and wrapped in wire to support and strengthen it.
That cable would melt if connected straight to the overhead mains.
But the best advice is if in doubt leave well alone.
