Title: How long to find an accounting error

Took today off to do paper work as i havn't done much for the last 4 weeks been busy working ect

But my bank balance was off by £85 it took me 2hrs to find the input error  >:( >:(

Whats the longest amount of time you have spent trying to track accounting errors ??? ???

All done now and are in perfect order  ;D ;D ;D

2 days, I used to work in account of a large travel agency in Ireland. Turn over was in the millions.

it took me 12 months to realise a customer has not been paying by standing order :o :o

Any cash you receive are you legally supposed to pay that into an account?

You must keep better records than me.

I just have monthly income, then keeps receipts for my expenses. Not all cash received gets paid into the bank. I use some of it for fuel or small spends etc. But just make sure I keep track of my total income.

Reason I ask is because I never have any problems with my bank balance not adding up. Lol

I don't pay all cash in to my bank but I do normally make sure I'm up to date with what's going in or out that way if my bank balance is different from my accounts program I know that their could be a customer bac's payment which has not put in properly. Nothing worse than chasing a payment that has already been made.

Just discovered one regular commercial hasn't paid for six months and three cleans. Another emailed their remittance notes but didn't actually put any money in my account.

I've spent considerable time trying to find the cause of a accounting error. However how a bank balance can be an error, specifically an accounting error is beyond me. Was the balance correct or incorrect? Are you relying on your bank account as an "account" of your business transactions? I'd love to know what the error actually was?
