Title: VAN overheating
Post by: koopmaster on May 24, 2014, 12:10:43 pm
Major STRESS last night, I had to drive to north london from south london and went through central london.

Van temperature was going up to RED because of traffic and I was stressing big time all the 2 and half hours there.....

coming home was no problem because we where moving all the time so no issues.

Now this has been going on for months, almost a year and a half but because I hardly get to the hot stage even in summer because my round is so compact it has never bothered  me.

I got up this morning and google it and then got my hayes manual out (ford escort 75d)

First thing it said was  "check the fuse"  and lo and behold the bloomen fuse had gone.

what a simple fix!!!!!!!

tested it by letting it get hot again and the temp shot up after a drive and I got out and checked and suddenly the fan started running, ran back to the inside of the van and the temp gate was already back to the middle..

SO HAPPY.

Its nice when its just a simple fix.  Makes a change doesn't it

I once had an issue with a car losing power when indicating right. Imagine the scenario when pulling out to overtake on a motorway. The car would not accelerate while the indicator was on. It turned out (after internet research) to be the rear light cluster shorting after getting a little oxidised, a quick rub with wire wool sorted it. I read on another forum where someone else had the same problem & had spent upwards of £600 at the main dealer who had still at that point NOT identified the cause! :o

ALWAYS research these kind of problems on t'internet!! ;)

Yes drinking PINT beers  ;D

Also the missus has been py with me,  she MADE me sell her old car a few months ago and has now realized it was a mistake....  so now wants a new one.

So she spent all last week looking and we finally found one yeasterday.  Got her a little mataz 0.8 se 5 door for a grand.

its done 28 000 miles and it was from a trade so bloody good deal.  They are going to MOT it on tuesday and the tax runs out end of this month but I have sorted out the insurance so tax will be no problem.

life is now returning back to normal....
