Title: Carpet Protector
Post by: Mark Stanley on March 29, 2006, 05:46:07 pm
I have 195 sq.m  of carpet to protect - wool mix. Having just priced up this I found almost to my amazement that the price (actual) cost would be £173 and thats without my labour charge. This price is based on two leading makes of carpet protector one at 29.50 plus vat per 40sq.m coverage (already diluted) 5L and the other is £119.11 plus vat with 225sq.m coverage (5L concentrate) and works out slightly less than the £173 quoted above and would leave some left over. Have I got my figures wrong or is this a realistic price - the carpet would of course be cleaned first - just for those who might ask - Bedroom / hall /stairs / landing / lounge. As you may have guessed I have not too much experiance with carpet / fabric protectors. Your thoughts please.

Hi Mark, We use PROmite and that covers 16-20 sq/m per litre, Therefore you would need 2X5l bottles probably around £40 ???
We charge 50% of the cleaning price, so as you can see there is a good profit margin in protection.

Thanks Adam

i think your refering to prochems; the top end is 50sqm per 5 ltr tub,

you should be able to get a bit of discount from your regular chems supplier, say 10% off the £29.50 per tub, you should find a good enough profit charging £1.50 per sqm protection.

chems = £106
charge = £290

or for that large area maybe you could charge less, say £1.10 per sqm. which will be a bit more acceptable for the customer.

chem = £106
charge = £214

regards,
craig

Paul, at the bottom end of estimated coverage 160sq/m for £40 would earn us £280 making a profit of £240 at our price of £1.75sq/m. Always try to sell protector, it's the easiest part of the job. ;D ;)
