I started today and will take the next 2 months to get the ones increased that I want to increase.
Going to keep a tally which I will update (bore) you all with of what I gain and what I loose.
I rekon now is a good time for following reasons
Pensioners have just had state pension increase
Interest rates in my opinion will be going up next 12 months so cant really do an increase when mortgages have gone up and people become conscious of their spending
-
My started going up yesterday, my first price rises for years though some customers put their own up! Most will be up £2 though I'm doing frames every time now I'm wfp plus on occasion I'm reaching windows I couldn't before. So far so good. Not looking forward to the mortgage increase though

Many of my custies (most) are mortgage free - a rise in interest rates might help their savings accounts!
I'm putting some prices up too.

I'm in the process of putting up nearly every job that I've had for more than two years. No knockbacks - yet - but I expect two or three. Most of it is just £1, some £2 or £3 and a couple of larger ones are going up a fiver. My newer customers have been subsidising my older customers for too long.
-
I add a £ every year and always have done.
Every year I lose one or maybe two but strangely enough, they tend to be the ones that I'm happy to lose.
I now tell new customers I put the price up a £ every June.
-
Is that flat across the board £1?
-
i put 80% of mine up last month!lost 3 customers but ive already replaced them and more!! ;)
-
Is that flat across the board £1?
Yup.
It does make things a bit difficult sometimes as I need to always have plenty of change for those that pay with cash but it seems to work quite well and very, very few customers complain as it's only a £1 increase.

You shouldn't need a price rise, Utd have given you a humiliation bonus haven't they :o

Not many clubs have their resources so that bonus will have to subsidise lower wages at my next proper job. Window cleaning will do until that happens though.

Are most of your customers similarly sized? i.e. do you make £10 houses £11 and £50 houses £51?

Yup again. Every price regardless of the price, they go up a £.
I've a fair mix of regular customer prices from £8 to £94 and this June, they all go up a £.
It's simple and easy to explain, it's a small amount and uncomplicated.

what happens if you take a new customer on a few months before june ?? ... guess you forewarn em ?
nice idea btw ... giving some thought ;)

If I take a customer on any time between January and June, I put the price up the following year.
I've had a quite a few potential customers who I've given a quote to decide against having their windows cleaned when I've said about the yearly price increase but as I'm not short of work, it doesn't really matter.
I've also had a few customers at the lower end of the price range change from 4 weekly to 8 weekly after a few years.
By and large though, it works really well.

I cant put my prices up as i start high in the first place!
