hi all ,just wondering how much profit you count in to your quotes per week in £ i have been putting in quotes and not getting very far , not sure if i am beening bit greedy. i put in £12 per cleaner per hour, then i add up cost of equipment and devide it by 52 weeks, add that in , then chemicals, then a little profit / contingency say £30 per week. Never quite sure if i am to cheep or over the top, i know its trail and error but rather not make so many mistakes ,my partner thinks i am well under, i on the other hand thought i was somerwhere in the middle. any thoughts! :-[

Hi Blacksheep.
How big are these contracts / worth per year??
-
only small ones 10-15 hrs per week
-
Hi Blacksheep
Are you saying that for a 10 hr per week contract you are charging £120 plus chemicals plus equipment plus £30 profit?
-
no just £5 for chemicals a week
-
fox. i worked out what it would all cost and divided by 52, i am sure i am going wrong somewhere
-
its about £110 per week all in
-
its about £110 per week all in
??? are you saying that £110 goes on the top of your weekly hourly charge?
So if you charge £12-00 per hour and if the job requires 10 hour per week you would charge £120-00 for labour, plus £110 for equipment/ cleaning materials etc. In that case you would get £230-00 per week - your charge become £23-00 per hour.
Or am I missing something?

Arthur

A AND J i have charged £110 per week to clean thats with everything included
-
just had another look at my quote and it looks fine except i may have put to much profit in, thats why i wanted to know how much you out there put on one of this size, i am getting something wrong or i would be getting the contracts, the quotes are coming in
-
OK, never mind...
We do couple of small offices and we keep it very simple indeed. ;D
The landlord pays for the eqipment and buy all the materials etc... We provide the labour and charge our hourly rate...
That is it. ;D

On a job that size do not give a break down of figures. £110 is a reasonable price for a 10 hr contract. Just submit that price stating cost per week £110.00 52 weeks per annum then put that it includes labour, machinery, materials and supervision. Also state that consumables can be provided at an extra cost and don't forget to put in that there is no provision for TUPE.
Not really sure if this advice is what you are seeking as your posts are really confusing!

thanks fox ,just need to know that i was not over the top, sorry about confusing everyone, my mum lord rest her used to say to my brother, heres another letter from sis, can you now desypher it for me lol ;D

Maybee you confuse the customer and thats why uou are not winning the qoutes.
If that sounds hard I do not mean it to but if you know you have a potential weakness its worth getting some one elseto take a look at the qoute and the entire process from first contact to final qoute.

We charge £9-00 per hour for the labour only and yet I received comments that we are cheap etc. (I guess from the people who has never been in this business...) 8)

Hi Blacksheep ,
Why base your quote on 52 weeks, if you do it to 56 weeks you are covering for holidays as well.
Cheers Mark.

And I laughed! Since when has there been 56 weeks in a year? :o
Hol pay will already be built in along with other costs such as insurance, materials etc. You don't need to sit down and work out every single costing for a small contract like this.
Blacksheep - whatever anyone will tell you £110 is not a bad price for 10hrs office cleaning (won't give you the biggest profit in the world either but is defo reasonable especially when you are quoting against two or three others). Ask the people who you submit your quotes to why they didn't choose you (most will give an honest answer) hopefully you will then have a good idea on where you are going wrong.

The reply from Fox (the one above this post) was the best comment and advice from this thread!!
I have a small contract that is for 15 hours per week.
The Charge (incl. holidays etc) is £182.82 per week!!!!
So you are definately on the right track with pricing.
