Hi,
I've been to see a job this afternoon where a waste management company has spilt a lot of hydraulic oil on a Tarmac carpark. The area isn't massive but it's everywhere.
They've then covered it completely in salt so I washed an area down and there is still a lot of oil just reappearing as I thought it would.
Has anyone had experience of this or know what to do or use? I could do with giving the guy some kind of solution in the morning.
Seems like a pig of a job but there must be something.

I used this, but only on a small area, it removed the oil but it will leave a shadow behind as the oil damages the surface of the tarmac !

Cheers, I use OT8 from them on oil but there must be something cheaper as it would cost a fortune!!!
Also it states this on the website:
For best results or for when using on larger stains, cover the treated area with polythene sheeting − ideally making a tent − and keep in place for up to a week. Ensure the area remains damp, but not flooded. Doing this provides a warm and damp environment, giving the bacteria used in Bio TA the best conditions to grow and digest the oil into carbon dioxide and water.
Oil stains degrade Tarmac and Asphalt, leaving behind an etched surface which appears as a dark stain − this cannot be removed.
A week!!! Don't think the school would be too happy about that. They must use something on motorways that is cheap and fast acting after a crash etc

Unless they want the tarmac sealing/painting I would leave well alone. oil will etch and you will always see where the oil was, even when its been fully removed! Trust me Ive made a similar mistake before

I had this call today, was it on a school carpark? I told them how it was with tarmac and oil and it would still look bad, which they didn't like the sound of, they also wanted me to do it today which I couldn't, by the sounds of it I'm glad I couldn't, was it bad mate?

Yea a proper mess Lee, I was passing so went over at 4pm to see what it was like. I had to wash an area down to get to the proper mess. He wanted a cheap quick fix and I told him it wasn't going to happen.
In regards to staining, I knew that anyway and explained to him, I don't think that will be a problem, they just want it cleaned up so they can use the car park because it's getting everywhere. They have had to protect the carpets it's that bad from people walking in, managed to secure the carpet cleaning there tho haha.
So any more ideas?

Best left well alone. Jet away is right

Got your text Neil. Just got in 10 mins ago.
Also got the call and he wanted it done today, no chance for 3 weeks I told him. Don't care which WM company they are we can't drop anything at the moment.

No worries Lee though you must be busy.
Going to leave this one then, not got time to be ringing round for a solution.
It makes me think though that there has to be something out there!
