Cleaned windows the other day for one of my customer after 8 months,she only phones when she wants them done.
conservatory roof, all windows, sky lights on the garage too.
(six bedroom house)
my price was £45

Thanks Heath for coming on Friday despite the weather forecast and doing a good job as always.
David will pay the bill on line as he now has this set up. Before he does please can you check the total as it was £35 last time in late September and the increase seems on the high side.

That really is very cheap IMO middsy.
I would've done less than half her conservatory roof for that.

and why cant you remember how much you charged her last time?do you not use round software like george,aworka etc which would mean you could easily check her history

That does seem outrageously cheap. Even a regular would pay double what you have charged. If you don't value your own time, a customer won't. But the biggest error in my view was to not agree the price before.

That's a problem you get with phone up and do them when it suits me customers.
You don't know what has changed since you last cleaned them and you don't want to leave
without cleaning them and waste a journey.
You should have explained that it took longer because of the conservatory roof and that was
why it cost more.
You need to price jobs like this slightly higher than you would normally to allow for unforeseen
circumstances.

To be fair your customer has been very nice about it.
If we phoned up PC world and asked how much computer was....we think they say £1000 and then when you get to the shop they say it's £1200, we would also query that.
By the sounds of her email she would actually have paid your price of £45 aswell.

Tell her "I completely understand if you want to get prices from other cleaners, but for me to do it I need to charge xxxxx"

We all under price jobs from time to time,
But at the end of the day we dont know your situation? You might have plenty of time and are trying to grow your work load through recommendations so spend your time and do a good job.
If your happy cleaning at that price then thats all that matters, i however when pricing would of said " it will be X amount for the house and X amount for the conny, as it will take me upto 2hours" when you split items up when pricing it doesnt sound like so much of a blow to the custy.

My total of these two last year was £3.72 an hour. Then his other overheads (ink, lighting, pcs etc.). Mine totalled 60p an hour last year.
So that's £4.32 combined an hour. It's now £16.53 an hour.
Everyone expects 4 weeks holiday pay as a minimum. That has to be another £2 an hour off. No pension rights! So now £14.53. He has no sick pay, can't work when it rains. It takes him 3 years to build a good business struggling with income and all for £14.53 an hour!! That's being generous. ;D

Its not that I cant do the math it more like you cant keep control on your expenses.

So it costing him £340 a week in expenses to make this amount not including the cost of the van.

I make it £132 on the costs I outlined above. I'm not sure where you get £340.

£22.50 per hour minus expenses of£9.50 = £13.00 per hour .So £9.50 x 30(hours) = £280.00 per week in expenses.all approx but a lot more than your £132.00 expenses per week!

don't forget the taxman as well ............. oopps looks like I will be -£1.39 an hour so gonna stay home as will make more money ;)
