Title: The perfect two man set up?
Post by: Dave Willis on May 10, 2014, 06:59:16 pm
Ok, never taken much notice of two man set ups because so far I've had no need.
So, I have spare pumps and controllers anyway so do you guys use twin pumps and controllers or what?

Just use one pump, one controller and supply two reels.  Before we went hot we had 2 pumps and controllers, but changing to LPG hot water we were only able to use one pump and it works fine.

Is that it? Just stick a 'Y'  piece in the pipe to reels?

i personally feel two pumps, two controllers  is the better way.
I use a split relay charger to too two batteries feeding two controls and two pumps and never have any trouble,

Yep.

But, it you like a high flow now, above 50, then you will not get the same flow with 2 reels even if you run it flat out.

We run our controller at. 85 for the 2 reels

Get 2 backpacks, to fill the backpacks quickly get a 1" tap valve fitted from the outlet of your tank

We use two of each, if one breaks down use a y connector as a temp fix so can keep working, simple

Not exactly l'm snowed under with work just can't cope any more with all the add ons. So my son would give me a hand Saturdays especially with the gutter cleans. I have been passing all new work on for about six months now but all my old conservatory roof jobs are popping back up and l just don't have the time or energy to do them. He has his own profession so wouldn't be there in the week.

If it's only an odd sarurday thing then definitely use 1 pump and split to 2 reels.

In the same position, got too much work now and falling behind.

I setup my 2 man system this afternoon.  (should have taken a picture)

I have 1 pump and controller and 2 reels and they are split with a Y piece pile.

I have a hose-lock female pipe which can either go into 1 reel or a double male piece so I can quickly change to a 2 man setup and have both reels up and running in about 20 seconds.

Best of both worlds.

Dave if I was you I would add the extra pump and controller

2 reasons one set up goes though your hot system and the other just straight cold system

and 2nd reason if you get a pump with any bit of the first system then straight away you just switch on the other, that way no down time waiting for parts,or even trying to put a new pump on while trying to work. ;)

I use 2 pumps to 2 DI vessels, no controlers.
I found the flow too low with two hoses on one pump.
