As the weight difference is negligible, is there any benefit in buying an SLX. Is there anyone out there that has used both?
-
I'd go for clx 22 , the 18 is nearly always too short on my opinion
-
With an 18 footer there's little or no benefit in paying extra for an SLX.
I have tried both and you wont notice much difference.

I have an SLX25. It's just about saving a bit of weight on straightforward houses. I am actually thinking what to do cost effectively. The other option is an SLX22 and extensions to take the 25 up to 35. But a CLX18 is so cheap that it's a non decision really unless it seems bendy on use. I had a CLX27 and would never go back to one of those.

I have a clx 18, and i can do 95% of my work with it. I have not used the slx, but the clx is so light, i really don't think it would be worth spending the extra.

no a lot of different but the slx will last twice as long ;)
-
... and the CLX is out of stock.
-
CLX is an okay pole for budget users or staff, it's not all about weight saving, the SLX is more rigid, therefore easier to handle, makes everyday work less fatiguing so you can either work longer or faster and finally it will outlast a CLX at least twice, if not 3 times over its lifetime

The SLX is more rigid but at 18 foot it doesn't come into play.
Iv had full fiberglass, CLX plus SLX poles and haven't noticed any difference in pole wear.
To be honest the full fiberglass was the best when it came to lifespan and the abuse it could
handle.

Can I ask you a question 8 weekly?

Can I ask you a question 8 weekly?
You already have.
-
LOL! My second question! Do you want the clx coating in an extra special material that I know you will want?
-
I would always go for a full carbon pole.
I know that i could extend my 18ft extreme all the way up to 80 ft and each section would be rigid.
-
I have the phoenix pro which is almost the same as a CLX and after a year or 2 its almost at its end of life. I have to lacquer it up every two weeks.
I now wish I had paid the extra for a SLX but I was a idiot on a budget.... BIG mistake...

Being on a budget does not make you an idiot (buying a Phoenix maybe) but hopefully you made enough extra £££ with the hybrid to upgrade to carbon when your ready.

I got my slx this week. Wish I brought it in the first place instead of my clx :-[
-
ive never had an slx pole but have the clx22 and fully extended its whippy and thats why im getting the slx 25 next for the stiffness and just that little bit more reach.
as a starter first pole like mine i would recommend the clx22 all day long, its been spot on for me and just looking forward to getting a full carbon now.
i believe weight wise theres not a lot really in it when you look on the gardiners page!

Your in for a surprise, I went from a fiberglass to a CLX and was amazed by the difference.
I then went from a CLX to an SLX and to be honest didn't find a big difference.
The SLX25 will still have a fair amount of whip in it especially cleaning over conservatory and garage roofs.
Don't get me wrong its the best pole on the market for the price but after reading the reviews on here
I was expecting better.

I went from a CLX 27 to an SLX 25 and there is an enormous difference.

I went from a 17 foot fiberglass pole to a CLX18 and was amazed by the difference.
I went from a 30 foot fiberglass to a SLX 25 and considering it was 5 foot shorter I wasn't blown away.
Yes its lighter and more rigid but a lot less than I expected.
All I can say is the CLX27 must be a crap pole if the SLX25 has an enormous difference.

Not crap,
CLX27 think Dacia
SLX25 think Rolls Royce

Where is Alex,,,,,

No, the clx27 is certainly not crap, but compared to the SLX it is whippy. Horizontalish over a conservatory the difference is big.

Good analogy, but id have the SLX as perhaps...Audi
With the extreme as Rolls Royce
