Clean It Up

Hi everyone. I purchased a window cleaning round at the start of last year & everything was going ok until yesterday when 2 people informed me that the previous cleaner had shown up a few weeks earlier & said he had taken over the round again as I'd stopped doing it (which is untrue). I know I can put this joker in his place in terms of quality of cleaning as he was a cowboy to put it mildly but has anyone else had a similar crazy issue & how did they deal with it? Thanks for your time. Sean.

Knock him out!!!.
What an arse going around doing that, that makes him sad and low! Rise above it and hope you have done a good enough job and have built a good enough relatonship with the customers for them to stay with you.
Type them all a letter explaining what is happening.. Its your crust the man is trying to steal so have none of it.. Hope all ends fine.

Great idea! Do that, then he can leisurely pick up the rest of your customers while you wait in prison.

You need to call with your customers and explain the situation.
Have a letter handy for any that are not at home but I would make the effort to speak to them all
personally.
I guarantee when they hear what a shifty character he is they wont want him near their properties.
Legally there's nothing you can do unless you have signed a contract stating that he wont clean in that
area again.

Was this the same bloke who you hid from by wearing an Elvis wig and fake glasses?

no- the bloke i hid from was as good as gold in that respect ,he would never have poach my work. he was a good man ,honourable ,decent .
his downfall was dope smoking . then working at a snails pace the next day.
[ my days of wearing a disguise to fool employees are over , its actually pretty scarey going out in public dressed that way too .]

Thanks for your advice everyone. I managed to find his email address & let him know that I knew what he was up to. He denied canvassing my customers (even though I've got several trustworthy people telling me different) but said he'd bought a round in the exact same area as the one he'd sold me mine (Thorley Park in Bishops Stortford if anyone's interested). I let him know that I wasn't happy to say the least & that I thought this went against the spirit of selling a round to someone. Hopefully he'll get the message & besides he's a lousy window cleaner :)

So he bought another round a year after selling to you in the same area. Yeah right!
You could ask him why he didn't think to buy some of your work back from you. Then again, we all know the answer to that one don't we?
Just let all your customers know what is going on. If they are happy with you you won't lose any.
