Re: Ohhhh nice. Maybe spring have listened.
Eh? What?
??? ???

I have a scaled down version of this being patented right now, the website isn't complete but has a WIP version to view
http://www.washmywindows.co.uk/Smart Water/index.html without the space
Final testing is just being completed on the 24v units, and ours has been running for 6 months without ever being turned off :)
Not really a plug for this but I'd like to know what people think

Ohhhh nice = yay shiny stuff.
Maybe spring have listened. = Spring ltd makes these units and then Gardiners etc rebadge them.
I asked spring if any plans existed for such a device and well here it is.

Bluetooth for a controller. Whatever next ::)roll
I MUST HAVE IT ;D ;D ;D ;D

just another expensive gimic to go wrong .i personaly cant see why you just cant keep the job simple less hassel .theres no need for for wacky gadgets.imo.ok im a dinasour. its like a chalange to see whos got the best set up ;D big deal .wfpers will be driving round in lorries next with all the gear.
-
IMO the simpler the better. The more complicated things get the more they go wrong.
Good example of this modern cars. People seem to have to get rid of perfectly good cars now because of undiagnosable electrical glitches and can sped £100's sorting out faulty sensors.

This is a bespoke piece of kit that we have been working away on in the background for a while. It could pop up at the trade show. It is a liquid logic product.
It is an interesting development. There is always space for innovation and new ideas

Fully agree, we've noticed controllers get more and more complicated and complex to the user, which is never a good thing. The idea behind the Black Box is the opposite, while seeming 'high tech' the purpose is to make things very simple for the user with some very unique features.

Thou shalt spell the word "pheonix" P-H-E-O-N-I-X, not P-H-O-E-N-I-X, regardless of what the Oxford English Dictionary tells you.

Looks good though.

What sort of range will the bluetooth have?
-
In theory, blutooth has a range of about 10 meters.
In practice, if the controller is inside a metal box (the van) and there are other obstacles in the way etc, I think you'd be lucky to get 5 meters.
I know this becasue if I leave my phone in the van, and just use the bluetooth headset (and believe me I've tried nearly every one going from £10 to £200) you get 5-6 meters away and it cuts out. Vans are just signal killers for this sort of thing.
Still I'd be interested to see how this thing performs, its a good idea. However, even assuming it works further than that, the question I have is:
would I start fiddling with my phone to control flow etc? Honestly, no I wouldn't.
But that's just me, others might find it convenient.
-
Black box looks good, looking at the spec it would suggest Bluetooth is used to remotely operate the pump, or is it just to alter the control settings? anybody got one?
-
Everything is better with Bluetooth. Fact.
