yesterday i had a few jobs where its a bit of a pain with long hoses so used the backpack for 4 jobs.love it!
i wish id bought one years ago.i reckon ill use it on around 30-40 jobs a month.easy to fill up.takes 2 mins from van tank outlet.
one job i cleaned 18 windows with one fill(19L full to the brim)on full flow.
no snagging hoses or untangling.just fill up and go!
great addition to my van mount.im well impressed. ;) :)

How do you move it about Daz ?
I carry it by the straps, but all the guys actually wear it properly when working
Darran
-
u must be braindead to carry it on your back all day . ;D ;D
which one did u buy after daz
if it was the gardners one with the handle on the lid .
could the guy who said he made his own handle please post some photos .thanks .sorry i ment to say young instead of braindead ;D ;D
-
hi darran ive cut the straps off and just lift it with the handle on the lid.not too heavy and of course when you ve cleaned a job its light as a feather! ;)
-
richard the handle is very strong on the lid.no need to modify it in any way.just make sure its screwed on tight! ;)
-
thanks gordon .just looked on previous post n found photos .
-
thanks daz
-
yes richard its the gardiners backpack.it feels a pretty robust bit of kit.cost me around £100 with vat.
its handy to have as a back up as well just in case my main pump packs up for whatever reason.
id never wear it on my back.i can just hear my customers singing the "ghostbusters" theme tune!! ;D ;D ;D
-
i got a bigboy backpack from wcw a few months back .... wish i had done it ages ago ....... has speeded up a few jobs considerably :)
-
One of mines branded gardiners the other 2 got off flea bay, got him down to £80 for the pair ;D ;D ;D
Only use backpack for the odd job and applying chems for SFG jobs

You're welcome.
Many, I am sure, will say the modification is unnecessary.
Apparently the lids on the later backpacks are of a better quality, but mine would fail whilst being carried by the handle full of water. Once it even happened after I had checked and double checked it was tight and not cross threaded whilst carrying through a customers house. After that occasion I no longer trusted the design, hence the modification. If you are not going to use a sack truck for it or the original straps then I think the modification at less than a fiver is worthwhile.
Dazmond obviously knows better though because he's had his a week 8)

Well , good for you Gary.
I would always check mine was screwed on correctly but still it would detach itself when I was least expecting it, maybe happened 5 times in the first month which is why I came up with a solution to my problem which I thought I would share here.
But by all means everyone post here and tell me how you have never had a problem with your backpack handle, your input is greatly appreciated.

Chill out chappy..wasnt making a point directly at you,was simply
making the point that you dont get the same problem with hewitt
packs.
but if you want to get your knickers in a twist
Well good for you! ;)

am chilled out dude 8)
just a bit of sarcasm aimed at this forum, lowest form of wit I know ;) :-X :-[
remember the old style wcw backpacks ? they were so much more comfortable to carry by the handle than these new style ones with handle on the lids.
The handle i have made for my gardiner one is far more comfortable to carry by if nothing else, plus you do not have to check every time that the lid is screwed on so tightly ;)

much easier on a trolley! ;)

On the odd occasion I use my backpack, I just carry it on my back. I wouldn't choose to do so for hours, but for the odd job it's ok. Not bothered about Ghostbusters music. ;D
-
i used to carry mine, in and out of car, give it time you will get minor backache,
since putting it on a trolley my backache has more or less gone.
too much pressure on lower back, in and out of vehicle. im 15 stone and gym train regurally. i couldnt fathom why i was getting lower back pain, since i put it on trolley its eased right off.
mind ive been using backpack for over a 18 months.

I tried it on a trolley but tbh found it a pain taking through peoples houses that way,
I often have to carry it up or down narrow stair cases to lower basement level rear gardens of terraced town houses and if its wet outside wheels get dirty and mark floors and carpets, defeating the whole point really.
Imagine carrying it by the handle full of water in that situation and the lid deciding to detach itself, you may then understand where I am coming from :)
-
Having started with a trolley, I have no wish to go back to using one. Pita is an understatement.

Except when you encounter, steps, soft grass, stones, going through houses, etc etc etc

Doesn't seem that long since you were questioning why window cleaners would want to use backpacks :-X
-
Daz
The back packs also good for putting virosol in for gutters and conny roofs use mine all the time for that ;)
-
The whole point of a backpack to me is to be able to clean away without hoses getting dragged through junk and avoid going through dog muck!carry through houses etc.
Putting it on a trolley would defeat the object of even using a backpack in the first place!!
KS van mount is king on most work but backpacks certainly have there uses!!I was wrong!!! ;D
-
I always use it on my back, that is what they are made for being a backpack!.
I only have it 1/4 or 1/2 full though.
-
i never went back to my van mount, or pure freedom trolley, when i bought my
wcw b/p, which im still using, on a shopping trolly, got a gardiner one as back up to,
that was nearly three years ago, ;)

There is a big difference putting a backpack on your back and using a for crop spraying ( which they were initially made for) as opposed to cleaning windows at height with a WFP tho.
