195 new cleans in the last 6 weeks - ya im busy :P
-
I keep getting lots of custys dropping out after a few cleans (and it's definitely not due to a bad job!) they often offer to switch to every 3 months but when I say I would charge them a couple of quids extra they say they're not interested and that in fact their windows don't really need cleaning.it's been a bit dispiriting lately lol
-
yep im busy too.its great now ive got a 500L tank.i can be "on the glass" for 7 or 8 hours if need be.not many new enquiries lately but busy with existing work.
got another week to wait until i get my van wrapped and sign written.then i should get more walk ups etc.
off today though.going shopping with the missus! ::)roll ;D ;D
stacked out for the rest of the week though.
happy days :)

Yup all you guys and in particular 2 posts made me think REAL hard so sacked off the job offer.
Sacrificed great pay now for long term income via the F word on here (franchising)
Also getting serious and working proper hours from 8 till 5 instead of fecking about and doing from 9.30 ish to 3.30ish
also making a few other changes such as business name to my name window cleaning (Ian Hornby window Cleaning)
so you guys stuck with me for a little longer !

what I hate in this job is when you kind of know custys resent paying for something they feel they don't really need after all ( usually after 3 or 4 cleans) and chasing money. I also sometimes feel a bit awkward cleaning windows that honestly don't really need doing ( monthly clean).otherwise yes window cleaning is a rather nice little job offering great flexibility.much more enjoyable than working in an office.

A lot of these sort of feeling disappear once you have plenty of work. At least that's what I have found. I once read on here that almost whatever problem you are havin with window cleaning, the solution is get more customers. I think that once you understand that, a lot of these things disappear.

Hey Ian, sad to hear the news that you have foolishly changed your mind. Which 2 idiots convinced you to carry on with the windows?

yes 8 weekly I'm sure you're absolutely right. getting more customers when canvassing is so gratifying and makes up for custys dropping you. i suppose I sometimes overanalyse things. I've been going for 1 year now and feel much more in control as I don't feel under any pressure to compromise on prices as I'm now where I wanted to be: good part time job. I really value my time and enjoy my job as I really don't feel I'm missing out on life: little stress, flexibility,no one to answer to .i even got used to custys who think that you must be desparate to earn a few quids lol having said that I can do it because I don't have a mortgage on my house and also maybe???? ( being french I believe quality of life is paramount) lol

Ha.

No, I don't mind the French but one (or un) is enough for any forum. You'll have to take in turns with Ben M.
At least you've got a good, British taste in music.
-
lol yes punk rock is the best thing that came out of England

;D You'll upset the Jocks and Irish (the Welsh don't do music).
Good lad.

Herve!
Hows it going now mate?? Picked up much more work??
-
hey mike. I've been a bit lazy lately and didn't do much canvassing but I intend to seriously start again as I've lost a few custys recently ( through no fault of mine). I think to progress I've got to focus more on the financial side rather than the social side of the job ( I'm very sociable and spend too much time talking to custys). how is it going for you? Still picking up customers like nobody's business??
-
picking up work steady but in patches really.one week it be 3-8 new jobs then next week 1-3 jobs.
I've now got to the stage where hopefully by the end of the month I would have sold a couple of days worth off work.
this work is work in the country side which I travel a bit to,when I say travel a bit about 15 -20 minutes drive.
so hopefully the van will be doing less than 5000 miles a year ;D ;D
-
Good to hear mate, im not canvassing at the mo as have stacked myself out too much as have just bought 2k of work ontop of canvassing and sold boards as houses seem to be selling left right and centre lately so im finding it hard to organise first cleans ontop of everything else!. I think this is enough for me now! No more canvassing or growing.
-
you not canvassing??? I'm sure you're gonna miss not canvassing and being cheeky to the ladies. before you know it you'll find yourself rattling on letterboxes lol if not I'd better hurry up and knock on doors like crazy before you're back lol
-
Lol, go on herve go and bang those doors before i get there :-)
