Title: hose set up
Post by: duncan h on May 03, 2014, 08:29:59 pm
Quick question guys. On a van mount, wfp system. Do you leave the hose reel by the van and pull hose to job or carry reel to job. The reason I am asking is I need to know which reel to get...fixed, wheeled or not
Thanks
Happy holiday

You don't take the reel to the job!!

Either fix the reel in the van or (like I do) Have the reel on a few meters of hose & stand it on the ground next to the van- this way you can park anywhere & still have the hose pulling in any direction. ;)

I've used these for 10 years, in all that time I'm only on my second- the first is still going strong as my garden reel. Tried others but these are the best IMO. Easily fits 100m of microbore hose on it too. ;)

Put the hose on back to front- so the hose pulls out from the grey plastic feet side, it's MUCH easier to use this way. Oh and put the handle on the opposite side too (opposite to what that picture shows)

I have a wheeled hose reel and take it out of the van. I angle it in the direction I'm heading off to.

Some gardens are quite twisty to negotiate pulling a hose around, so I wheel the hose reel out to the furthest point, tie the end off and walk to hose reel back to the van. I find this much quicker in certain circumstances.

This is one of the reasons I haven't fixed my hose reel permanently into the back of the van yet like Tim has.
