My missus needs the OP (sounds so wrong)
She's a hairdresser and suffers badly. They told her 12 weeks. 6-8 is normal for recovery.
-
Damo it says you can return 2 to 6 weeks but to be honest I feel I could work now just gotta watch out for infections. Yes I can understand your misses getting it using scissors alot. It kept waking me up with burning sensation and numbness in my thumb and 2 fingers. I had to keep shaking my hand to get rid of the pins & needles. I'd have general if had to do again. I feel
For your misses with this 😟
-
I saw the docs hospital about 2 weeks ago Damo he said should be around 12 weeks but got the call on Tuesday to say they can do it Saturday only waited less than 2 weeks think he likes me m8 👍

I have just started getting issues with my hands BUT I nipping it in the bud. Changed technique and bought a new pole to make my life as easy as poss.
Hope my missus doesn't have it. 12 weeks of no use of her hands ;) ;)

Damo it says you can return 2 to 6 weeks b
Thats if you do a sedentary job. You dont. You'll be out of action 6 years.
-
6 years bloodyhell not worth
Going back I wanna retire in 7 years pmsl !!!! 🇬🇧

My wife has had both hers done recently (separately!) and says there is a big improvement. She was able to use her hands again fairly quickly, within 3 weeks, but she doesn't work.
I would imagine, for the kind of work we do, there would be a longer period of recovery, and as has been mentioned, going back to early would probably be a bad idea.
Take it easy, and if the scar area feels tight and starts to hurt, get someone to massage it!. According to my wife, that worked wonders.
-
Cheers for the afvice Simon, I'm gonna go to work but light duties. Won't pole but when cleaning polish with other hand. I'd go off my head sat in doors alday. 👍
-
Is it from using the pole or typing on CIU? Too many smiley faces and other wee pictures if you ask me. ;D
Seriously though, I hope it gets better quickly. Did the consultant give any advice on how to avoid it happening?

I needed the operation but I stopped any exercise or movement that involved twisting of the wrists i.e. using a screwdriver, cleaning using trad, wringing out scrim, anything and everything that involved twisting of the wrists. Six months later my wrists sorted themselves out.....the ligaments unravelled themselves from the tenons and I never needed the operation and my wrists are still fine twelve years later. Doctors aint always right and I proved them wrong. Don't have the operation....deal with the cause of the problem and prevent the inevitable happening. Twelve years ago I was told I would never work again but I proved the doctors and specialists wrong there as well. Stubborness, determination and lots of reading medical information of all sorts helped me overcome my problems. Life is full of challenges and you either except them or defy what everyone tells you and just perservere and prove everyone wrong like me :)
-
Pmsl !!! He said stop typing so much lol !!!! Made me laugh.
No Soupy not sure if its the job m8, but could be. He said I must stop playing with meself he he !!!!
I had MRI scan as I've had bad shoulders which I have bone on bone in one shoulder, the other shoulder I've got a tenden being crushed but have had injections to stop the pain. I've also got degenerate deseaseof the neck bones which the bones are crumbling so my body is knackered. I've given up gym as
Was making me ache. I'm not sure if its all the pole work as I was fine when using 3 part ladders alday, but then again I was 20 years younger. Bloody only 45 even thou I feel ok ache abit but will no doubt get worse so that's why I'm trying to pay mortgage off in 7 years so I can slow down pass the company down to my son and may do little cleaning jobs for pocket money as I've got my own pension had it for nearly 20 years which is a good one as it goes up every year with inflation and the government pay into it as well ✔

Windows that's not always the case for everyone m8,
I've had mine hurting for ages, I wore wrist straps stretched the hands but never worked and in some cases if left it can make things worse and cause loss of thumb muscle. Glad it's done at the mothered no pins and needles. Also got fed up with getting woken up throu the
Might 2 or 3 times with a severe burning pain in my hand. Them I'm up at 4.15 so makes me knackered. It's done now and now just gotta make a recovery.

used this book when i had issues with wrists a couple of years ago.
Realise not the answer for everyone just a suggestion.
Good for you windowswashed.
slightly of topic but had real problems last couple of years with my asthma seen a homeopath 3 times now and 50% better already.
It's amazing what modern medicine can do but think G.P(NHS) do go for the quick fix and are quite happy to drug you up ::)roll
I was on alot of steriods for asthma and felt in the end I was no better for all the drugs and worried about future effects.
As for my wrists at the time i was in quite a bit of pain and disturbed sleep did regular stretching exercises and luckily fingers crossed ok at the moment.
But as said Asthma and oh yeh now my knees are playing up ;D
Next problem to tackle.
All the best Dannymack ;)
