So Guys what's thinking of switching all my paypal customers to Go Cardless
But whats the pros/cons ?
I know for us it's a win win in getting payments! It's just from the customers perspective they may feel they 1;lose control 2;the words Direct Debit may instill set in stone 3; do they have the funds when I go for it ?? This last one is why I feel I get a lot of PayPal payments in on fri/sat as it seems lots live from week to week :-\
The fear I have is that customers feel that they may lose control
So what issues have some had in the change over & had did you sell it in their benefit ? Also why have some of you not gone down this route ?
Cheers folks

we offer both and GC is slowly taking over.
1. Direct debit is protected by the DD guarantee, the cust is always in control
2. money is always taken the same day
3. fees on GC are far far les than PP
Just make sure you give them references so you can match payments :)
Setting it up costs nothing, try it with a few, if its not for you don't use it

Why stop taking PayPal?
Offer both.

Paypal is very expensive compared to Go Cardless. I would like to phase out Paypal myself, but I would expect to lose some of my customers that pay by Paypal if I insisted they switched.

Don't force anything. If they want to continue paying via PayPal they will need to cover the 5% charges.
PayPal is a rip off, personally the only reason I have a PayPal account is because eBay (also a bunch of thieving gits) force you to have one.

PayPal is good for those customers who are 'desperate' for a clean, but 'have no cash' and you have a funny feeling you may end up waiting for your pennies.
"No problem, PayPal to my mobile number, soon as it's in, it'll show on my phone and I can start cleaning"

Very good topic on Jeremy Vine show tday all about payments to taxi/shops etc....all changing very fast ,I think just this week HSBC are introducing payments by a TEXT app can see that been very useful if other banks follow suit
