This is going to be a longish post !!! Any feedback pos or neg I don't mind. We mentioned about when reeling in hose that some leave the water sitting in the hose which I feel is built up pressure putting stress on the rectus or hozelock joint going into the reel which could cause leaks there. Some leave the pole hose plugged in so when reeling the access water comes out the brush or like me I've got a spare male fitting which I push into the female which is connected to the end of me hose so that releases the water into a bucket. I'm normally getting a good half bucket of water which I could pour back in the tank but it gets dirty. So my idea is a hose tail threaded elbow which ill put piccy of at the bottom so you know what I mean. Drill hole in top of tank fit and screw the elbow in with nut and abit of silicone. So when you finish walk the end of the hose back to van turn pump off then push the female at end of the hose into the fitted male, so when reeling in water goes back into tank. I thought it would also be good for hot washers as you could plug in turn on and cold water would be going back into tank until it starts getting warm so you not gotta wash and wait for it to start hotting up when you start washing the windows, you could do this when driving to job ? I've gotta test Tds going back in but am sure it will still be low.
What do yous think, before I go ahead and put hole in top of tank !!!
Pic below !!!

So 10 litres of water per day?
6 months to save a cubic metre or approx £3 depending on your water companies charges?
-
So what's that work out say over the year ? 👍£6 !!!!
Not so much about cost of water it's about releasing water and stop the pressure build up then making joints leak !!!! So I thought would be good idea putting back into tank. You know every but of water counts when you have a busy day and that lil drop you've save may be needed for them last 2 windows lol !!!!
-
Why not fit an aqua dapter or something? Would save water throughout the day, then wouldn't matter about the bit you are on about :)
-
So what's that work out say over the year ? 👍
Well, if you save £3 worth of water over 6 months I guess that makes it 6 quid over a year.
-
I think if you need to worry about such a small amount of water, you need a bigger tank! ;)
-
Read above its about pressure build up !!!! I'm guessing that's why some may have leaks in there hose reel joints. 👍

I understood it was ;) Fit an aqua dapter and it will save water throughout day. Then with the bit you loose, it wont matter ;)
-
Damien understand what your saying, but the water build up in the hose I always leave it to go in the bucket why not plug into the fitted elbow so when reel in water goes back in tank no water build up sitting in reel and it keeps the end of the hose clicked in place nice and tidy pmsl !!!! 👍

My hose on the reel is continually pressured-up.
Van interior dry, no leaks and no wasted water.
-
Just leave mine pressured up 24/7
-
Danny, you're fighting a losing battle with this lot.
If pressure and leaks are an issue for you then I think its a good idea and if it works for you then great.
others opinions are of no importance.
Why not drill the hole in the lid of your tank though instead ?
-
Switch my pump on at 8.30 turn it off again at 4.30.
Dry van.
-
Never leave my hose under pressure.
Leave the tap open when winding it back up, wipe the hose as it is going back on the reel and wipe the pole hose and coil it up after every job. Always have done.
-
at the end of the day i switch the controller off, hose and pole still connected, open the aqua tap lets out the excess water out and relieves the pressure its no more than a large mug full so dont see the need to save it.
As has been said if it works for you then do it
-
Mines under pressure all the time.
Winding in, unwinding, overnight.
Always.

Although if there is a hard frost predicted, I run the pressure off.

Jarvey what do you mean leave tap open when winding in, have you got some sort of rectus fitting with tap at end of your main hose m8 ? 👍
-
Yes Tony that's another reason, when its gonna get frosty and those who have fitted hose reels you don't wanna leave water laying in the hose so it's best to let that water out otherwise it can I've up !!! 👍

Well, he started with "Any feedback pos or neg I don't mind," which suggests that he wanted opinions.

Vin your right I don't my last comments are as a joke, pmsl means p me self laughing !!!!!! Just incase you didn't realise what that meant mmmmmm I wonder about some people !!!! 💪💪💪making me angry now lol !!! Means laugh out loud Vinny Boy !!!! ::)roll
-
Danny - I'd give your idea a go and see if it works ok.
If it does, well and good, if it doesn't then sometimes from one idea that doesn't work so well comes a better one.
-
I "think" maybe the best bet for you would be the return back to the tank option. If you really wanna be posh.
Before the hose reel you have a t piece which goes back to the tank.
-
Yea defo right Ross I will do, I think it will work for me as the male probe I have just got is loose and will prob lose it so will fit an elbow one to the tank or lid
Cheers Ross. I'm working in your fab place tomorrow Stepney Green lol !!!! Love it there don't ya lol !!! 👍
-
Damo I use to have a t piece on the pump one side and elbow the other with a tap fitted on the hose. When I reeled in the water went straight back to the tank. I took it all off when I changed the pump and fitted an elbow on and took the tap and t piece off. Omnipole fitted it like that as standard when I bought it all 10 years ago m8 👍

Did I say that ? oooops me bad
chill out, merely commenting because at the time of my post people hadn't given opinions on whether it was a good idea or not , only mentioned how they didn't have leaks, dry vans, no need to de pressure their hoses , save water etc, seemed to be missing the point some what as to what Danny was asking and wasn't really constructive advice, As to whether you are a frightful person or not only you will know, unless you care to put a pic of yourself up and then maybe we can be the judge of that ;D :D
-

You really wouldn't want me to do that.

I hate and loathe the place. Parking is a constant nightmare as is the way they drive along with the amount of uptight always in a hurry stressed out ignorant people. East Enders and the East End have absolutely nothing in common. The real thing is far worse.
Strangely enough, yesterday and today I've been working in the same area along Whitehorse Lane and Tredegar Square which is really more Mile End than Stepney Green.
Where abouts will you be working or as it's late and by the time you read this, where were you working?
(Stepney Green is about a mile or less east of Whitechapel in London's East End).
-
Cheers Damo, Gordon and you Vin, Gordon was right in what he was saying regarding opinions. Ross yes that's so right about Eastenders as the majority have moved out to Essex and most not all but most scum have moved in and you know whom were talking about m8. Yes I'm in Stepney Green Rd, not far from Stepney Green Station.
Crap hole round there, no manners with the so called drivers useless. I grew up in Stratford thought it was the best area when your growing up, Spose everyone thinks that of there areas when there young. Not now when you visit hate it. Makes me laugh they put a big stadium surrounded by a crap hole. Mind you it makes me laugh when I drive down commercial Rd early all the old dirty ugly hookers standing there kicking stones waiting for there punters !!!! Yukkkkk 👍

I know exactly what you mean but oddly enough, it's a good area for picking up new domestic work as there's hardly any other window cleaners for that reason.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Microbore-SINGLE-LEVER-Tap-6mm-Hosetail-and-6mm-Size-Rectus21-Connector-/251222635484?pt=UK_HomeGarden_CLV_Cleaning_CA&hash=item3a7e0933dc
Mine is 8mm though, tap on end of hose from reel, other end goes on pole hose.
I rest the brush on the bumper and leave the tap open with the connecter on and wind hose in. Don't leave pressure in the hose and stops fittings wearing out quicker because of constant connecting/unconnecting.
Not saying its the right way, just my way! I spend less than others I know who always seem to be buying stuff way more than I do.
