Hi all,
After many months, nay, YEARS!! D.Salkeld ltd has finaly got a Water Fed Pole system completed and had its test flight this evening.
Fairly pleased with the result. Only cleaned my front windows 2 up and a bay UPVC (not been cleaned for about 2 years - shame on me!!!). A few water marks around the edges. I think that is due to the fact that Clever Cloggs here though this WFP lark was easier than you expeienced guys make out and just gave them a soaking then brushed - with the water turned off!! - and rinced. I didn't brush the edges of the glass properly and Brush with the water on!
This is the System I have:-
Water Production
3 200ltr rain butts fed by a 100GPD RO and DI polisher
A bit slower than I hoped but I have a pump coming so that should speed it up a bit
Water Transport
10 x 30ltr barrels, Trailer
Going to get a tranfer pump, I will soon get tired of humping the barrels into the trailer!!
1 DIY Sack trolley
100 psi Shurflo pump. Free car battery ( I am going to purchase a 22ah Golf caddy battery - but you can't knock a free nearly new batery!!)
Backpack is on order and due next week!
Pole and Brush
A Ceantech 3x2mtr Ally pole with a GAZ (Salmon) brush with fan jets.
The tube on the outside (clipped at the top of each section). I also have a Vikan 11" brush and will give it a try tommorow.
I look forward to your comment folks and I will post a few pickies later this week.
My wife suggests I wait untill next week to launch it for real.
Whats the odds on me trying it out tommorrow!!!

Go for it Dave.
I will bet a pound that after 4 weeks wfp you will ghange all your vikan brushes over to Gaz salmon brush.
I have just kept Two vikan brushes for Con roofs.

too be honest, you cannot go far wrong
brush the window with brush with water
the rinse well and rinse a bit more till the 3rd clean

Just wash & rinse rinse rinse
Check what you've done, the way you always have.
Remember, You can't go wrong applying yourself in the same way you always have. That is what has kept you a good w/c all this time, that aptitude doesn't change.

Good on you. The novelty of not having to climb ladders will initially outweigh the 'pain in the ass' factor of learning a new routine.
After a week or so, you'll be wanting to go back to ladders but stick with it.
First cleans become a real pain to do properly. Really scrub the frames; if you have any problems, it's the frames usually.
Scrub the frames, wet the glass (to soften the dirt), then return after doing all the easy to get too windows and just do the glass; just so gravity has enough time to pull the dirty water from the frames.
Then rinse well. Jeff Brimble compares it with cleaning a car. It's no good just rinsing if you haven't scrubbed the dirt loose first.
I always rinse twice; firstly by dragging the brush lightly down the window; then finally by removing the brush from the window and zig-zag downwards.
For the second rinse, if it's hydrophillic glass, where it just 'beads', I keep the bristles lightly on the glass, and zig-zag.
Sometimes I rinse three or four times. It depends on how fussy the customer is. ;)
But I always scrub the windows and frames well first. Remember Jeff's 'car washing' analogy.
The subsequent cleans then become a doddle, if you've cleaned them properly the first time round.
That's when you start making a return on your investment.

Dave youve done the hard bit..... deciding on what kit to have!
Its now just a matter of getting used to it. chin up literally to see the windows and you will love the results. did mine a few days ago and wasnt sure. but all was well. it did rain straight afterwards but it looked very good. just the knack of doing it properly moving around without breaking too much when hose snags.
keep at it you wont look back after a few weeks.
