Jeff.
The link doesn't work. I changed the last bit to html and it still didn't work. I also tinkered with a couple of other bits that may have been typos but still could not get any joy.
Could you check the link and re-post please?

This is weird. That doesn't work for me either.
I've tried other links in other posts to test my settings and they all work fine.
What am I doing? I don't even want to make a pole anyway ;D

Just been for a shower.
Cheers Gaz.
JEFF.

jeff. are they twist lock poles, or can we buy the spare lever clamps that are available to us from the window cleaning sites.jouk45
-
Hi jouk.
no they are just telescopic, you just pull them out until they jam, when you get them just open up the end and disguard
the top 2 sections.
You then need to make a gooseneck from 10mm id bore aluminum and fit your brush head.
Cheers Jeff.
-
jeff, sorry to trouble you. can you give us the diameters of the sections.might be lucky and get the spare claps for them. here is where you get the spares.

Ok but what about the top sections arnt they a bit thin to hold brush.
Or do you just discard the very top sections ???
-
yes you throe the top sections jeff said.i think the longer the pole you buy the bigger the bottom sections will be.jouk45
-
thanks all!!! i have actually been looking into making one this afternoon and i came across this site myself good to know it works!!!!
cliff
-
Am i getting this right?
At this site
http://www.skyblueleisure.co.uk/acatalog/FibreglassTelescopic_Poles.html
or if that doesnt work
http://www.skyblueleisure.co.uk/acatalog/Poles.html
You can buy telescopic poles to use fro reach and wash, with a few adjustments?
for only £22.99 for a ( 9metre pole)?!
-
well i was looking into it this afternoon and i think its possible i will find out soon enough!!!
cliff
-
cool, make sure you let us know, because that sounds really good!
I just bought a 18ft pole, but now i think a bigger one would be a big advantage! And this is a cheap way of doing it hopefully
-
Hi Jouk
Sorry ive not replied but been out for a couple of hours.
Bottom section of pole is 30mm dia.
I bought a 6mtr pole and removed the top 2 sections. when i add the goose neck it gives me a 4.6mtr pole which is more than enough reach for domestic work.
If you look on the site they do a 7mtr carbon fiber one that is not telescopic, it,s sectional each piece goes over the previous one like a fishing pole, with these you can make
the pole as long or short as you require. If you want to see the fishing pole with goose neck look at page 13 about half way down ( DIY POLE FOR £12.50 )
here some pics
-
brilliant jeff,if the bottom base is 30mm then the next one must be 26mm.if thats the case, we can buy the clamps for them no probs.thanks ;D jouk45
-
Jouk
I dont think the clamps will fit as each section on the telescopic pole slides back into the the previos one.
look at page 13 about half way down and you can see the fishing pole one i made with gooseneck.
Cheers Jeff.
-
What does you mean when you say
"If you look on the site they do a 9mtr carbon fiber one that is not telescopic, it,s sectional each piece goes over the previous one like a fishing pole, with these you can make the pole as long or short as you require."
I have the 18ft pole on the top of this page:-
http://www.windowcleaningwarehouse.co.uk/wcw/ecommerce/index.php?file=product&idcate=80&page=2
What will be the difference between the two types then? axcept for the brush on top and the water feeding pipe?
-
Just thought about last post yes they should fit its no different to the other telescopic poles, but i find i have no problem using mine just extended and jammed
Cheers Jeff.
-
Hi Leeksons.
The difference will be about £80.00 and less than half the weight.
Cheers Jeff.
-
jeff, you could mix and match with extenders clamps and the universal one, theres plenty to choose from.jeff, one more thing please are they 1mm wall thickness or 2 its important to know as they fit inside the clamps.my poles are 1mm thick fibreglass
could even dismantle my old one for the clamps to make a new biger one.jouk45
jeff, dont worry i wont blame you if it goes wrong lol ::)
-
Hi Jouk
They only 1mm in thhickness, post a pic when you have done it.
You could make a gooseneck from 10mm plumbers copper tubing but it will be a little heaver, if you know a plumber he can bend it for you to the right angles for you.
Cheers Jeff.
-
jeff, I was told by a nice man called brian from skypole that we dont need to use clamps at all. as you said just discard the top section you dont need. what he was saying was use the pole as it is. also these poles are origionaly fishing rods he said, used for catching larg fish like sharks ect, so if it can hold a shark am sure it can take anything we throw at it, jouk45 ;D
-
Jouk.
You need to disguard the top two sections to get down to a reasonable thickness your down to 10mm then.
So when you order dont forget you will loose 2mts of whatever size you order.
Cheers Jeff.
-
cheers for the tip jeff.
-
have you sorted that pole yet jouk45 ;D
-
i have orderd a pole hopfully it will be here before the weekend!!!!

CLIIFFORD: KEEP US IMFORMED HOW YOU GET ON
GAZA
-
we picked up a decoraters pole in b&q £12 odd its 3.3 metre's but i believe they do a bigger one, screw fitting on the end already just needs a goose neck fitting
baz
-
One of gaz,s brushes on the end and youve got a very low cost ground floor pole :) :)
-
so how does the brush fit the end has it got a screw end already fited
-
The up to 9m poles are glass fibre and will wobble a bit they are also only 1 metre sections. The carbon fibre 7 metre is also only 1metre sections. The top sections of the carbon are weak and can be crushed but if you marry up the c/f with the top 3 & 4 sections of say a 4m glass fibre you get the stronger tops. The poles are interchangeable. Prob is you cannot go higher unless you use fishing poles which start with base sections of 1.5 metre.
The telescopic ones shouldnt collapse with weight on the top and would be ideal for limited height. You can wrap pvc tape round the top of each section to stop them telescoping completely inside each other which makes them faster to extend than the modular poles.
I am up to 18m now with modular fishing poles cost is about £220 s/h but the lightness blows anything else out of the water. This type has to have the hose externally.
You MUST use a light brush (max about 12oz complete) hope this helps.
