Has anybody had any success with advertising on Facebook. Thinking of advertising on Facebook buy and sell pages local to my area. Just wondering if anybody had any success with this type of advertising or if there is a better way to advertise on Facebook.
Thanks in advance for your reply. :) :)

I tried it and got a couple of jobs - low quality messers mostly looking for a 1 off clean at a discounted price,..

add your own website onto the local Facebook buy and sell pages for free . i do it about once a month and get very good results. it takes me about an hour of my time to do it across all local groups ,not long
doing the paid FB advertising pays off too-although you must make sure you tag just the area you work, not the whole of the UK or you will fritter away your clicks to folk miles away . I set a limit of £10 max per day and run an ad for 2 days only and only do it on the run up to what was going to be a quiet week workwise

What's the difference with google Adwords? (If you know...)

iv never used google adwords , i believe you have to pay for it ? or is there a free trial?

You do have to pay for it.
I was thinking it sounds similar as in the £10 per day thing.
Perhaps someone who has used both could tell us the difference?

I think google adwords you pay per click and is targeted at google customers and facebook advertising is pay per click but targets facebook customers. They are similar in the way they work, just has different audiences. Thats the way i see it, but maybe wrong.
Hopefully someone may correct me :)

i know when you run a FB ad it comes up in the newsfeed of the folk you are targetting, not at the side . so they cant miss it, which is good
-
Do you get much response from the £10 per a day for 2 Days?
-
yep good response . i set it up so it only shows to folk who r over 22yrs old and only in the towns i work, not the areas around the towns as i dont want any country boys . i only let it run if its a sunny day and can pull the plug early so u dont even have to spend a fiver [i set the max limit at 9 or 10 quid per day] but i bleve u can set it at 3 or 4 quid but obviously itll run out erlier not so many clicks and then your ad wont be shown .
iv jus remembered ,wen i first set up an ad ,i goofed at the last hurdle cos wasnt sure how to do it. FB then GAVE ME A 25 QUID CREDIT to encourage me to follow it thru to an ad . might be worth you trying a goof !

Thanks for all the info, will give it a try next week once we have got easter out of the way ;D
-
holiday times are the best ,i gained a load over the xmas period, folk are bored then ,sit at home on the lappy ,lookin for ways to spend

I have advertised on the local 'buy it, sell it swap it' type pages. Lots of people messing you about. If you are trying to build a round up for free then no harm in giving it a go. Try and get phone numbers as soon as you can from any potential customers. I've found if they don't want to give you a phone number they are unlikely to be a genuine customer.

I'm with aj owen .
We are local to each other and the amount of messers you get from the for sale groups in unreal expecting everything for nothing .
Also you get the idiots advertising wfp cleaning from £3.50 .

commenting on some issue in the neighbourhood with a tenuous side link to my own page is something else im doing.
a local community cafe has just opened in town ,folk on FB are writing about it ,i comment that my crew will be eating there [altho they tell me no way will they ] look at my website blah blah
Like many,i used to think that using FB ,Gumtree ,scoot etc was a waste of time.well it is,if you just write a bland 1 liner cos that wont get you anything,
however ,if you sit and look at it ,really dig deep with the effort of writing ,its a good AND EASY way to get work with no legwork involved .
