I've just got a 2nd hand 40 40 pure freedom with the bottom waste fitting missing (the male is fitted but nothing to fit it to the float valve) I've been to a plumbers and got a 22mm but it's to big any ideas? Or do I need to contact pure freedom Monday?
-
The fitting shouldn't be that dear from pure freedom .
-
I just hoped I could get something locally so I can try it out!
-
If you phone pure freedom Monday morning first thing it should be with you by Tuesday
-
I'll be phoning at 9 am :)
I've had a 450 gpd for years so I'm interested in seeing the difference
-
Got any pics, everything connected to my PF RO is bsp fitting bulk standard
Ps, have you got the gate valve for flushing/ producing pure ?

I'm on my iPhone so how would I upload a picture from the phone onto here?

It looks like a standard 22mm but it's smaller
-
3/4" BSP?
-
Sounds like it might be about 19mm the plumbers I went to only had 15 or 22mm
-
Looks like 3/4 bsp
Screw fix should have some, to confirm the size try screwing a male hose lock onto it (the bit normally on the tap)

I've just tried a hozelock and it doesn't fit, the hozelock is to big
-
This will either be 1/2" or 3/4" as the champ housing only comes with these two options and it looks like a straight male to male screw fitting has been used.
If you buy one of these - http://www.diy.com/nav/garden/garden-care-watering/watering-irrigation/hoses___accessories/-specificproducttype-connectors/Hozelock-Threaded-Tap-Connector-Yellow-Grey-9218635

You should then be able to screw it on whichever size it is.

Looking at the other fittings on it they look like standard sizes, if I could get this fitting off I'd be ok but I'm worried about splitting the plastic as it's in there very tight!
-
personally, i'd remove that brass fitting and replace with a plastic one.
As a general rule, I like to use plastic with plastic and metal with metal.
You just need to wrap the plastic thread with plenty of PTFE tape and you shouldn't get any leaks...ever!
-
The trouble is I can't get it out! I've soaked it in wd40 but it won't budge
-
Could be someone has bonded it in with threadlock there's not much thread on it for a decent connection,
Best course of action maybe to get a really tight grip on it with mole grips take a deep breath and tap (hard) with a hammer to break the seal, it's unlikely to split, normally you split plastic housings when over tightening

I've tried that darran, but as it's a brass / alloy fitting the moles keep slipping
-
You need to get a really tight grip where you can only just get the moles to squeeze closed also place sandpaper emery paper around the fitting for grip
alternatively you can use a screw driver and hammer to dig into the fitting but there's a knack to this method

Got it out! I managed to cut through from inside the fitting with a hacksaw blade and then crush it to get it loose, thanks for the help everyone ! I love this forum :)
