Did a survey yesterday on a chinese slate floor as described by customer. Looked and tested like slate.
Shes had a leak from washing machine. Problem is a lot of the tiles the face has blowen away from the tile. I could push a screwdriver against the ridge of the slate and a chunk would come off easily.
The more surprising thing to me was under the bit that came off was a clay base.
Is this normal? I would of expected slate to be 100% through bodied slate.
I declined the job because of this.
Any thoughts.
Thanks
Mark
