Title: Red Algae ?
Post by: James Bulton on March 30, 2014, 07:40:43 pm
Any one on this forum heard of red algae on conservatory roof. Some nob sales guy was telling my customer of re algae causing leaks and wanting to do a clean for 350 quid. I tired google it as its sounded like a fast one.I am aware of red algae in the sea but never on a conny roof.

Red algae is quite common, but usually prefers north facing concrete/pebble dash surfaces. It looks unsightly, but will not cause leaks.

red algae on walls is easily removed by a spray of mossbuster but im not sure if it works on conservatories.

Pressure washed a gable wall with red algae on it last weeks, sprayed some hydrochloride on it a couple of days before an came of a treat. Can't see how it would be on a conny roof or how it would cause leaks. Defo sounds dodgy.
