It's roughtly 21ft 4in.

Add in a neck and a brush and it's probably about 22ft.

Alex said on another posting,

''The SLX22 is (as has been said) 22ft - we try and name the poles by their actual length rather than name them by their reach which some brands do''

(that's why I posted this question)

Hi JackieW

When I said that we have named it by its actual length this is in comparison to those firms who name their poles to the reach of the pole - there is usually a 4-5ft difference between these two ways of naming. For instance one of our competitors names a slightly shorter pole a '24ft' based on its reach. This to us does not seem a good way of naming a pole as the client is not exactly sure of what they are getting. Another firm sells a pole that is advertised as a 45ft pole (with sections added to take it to 75ft) - however this pole is actually a 39ft pole - the name is the reach. This is not a new thing in fact for those that have been WFPing for a while now they will remember that most firms used to name their poles with a 'reach' name. This led to nothing but confusion and disappointment hence the reason for ourselves (and more others now) to choose names that more accurately match the actual length. We also include a reach measurement of each pole to help those comparing our poles with other firms who name their poles with the 'reach' name.

The exact length is quoted for each of our poles in metres - as you have already noted. The pole is then named (mainly for the UK and US market who still have a fascination with imperial units!) to its approximate foot length. Each of our poles is sold with a gooseneck and brush which brings the length of this pole to about 22ft - hence its choice of name. This name choice does give a very good idea of its useable actual length. For precision we would always refer to the metre length as this is the measurement that we use in design and manufacturing.

I think If you take your pole apart and lay them on the floor, butt them together, you will get 22ft of pole.

4 inch per section stays inside the pole, so you do get 22ft of pole but extended length is not 22ft.

This is the case with most 22ft poles, mine included.

Steven.

To Alex,

A very comprehensive answer, thanks.

As I've said before, I much prefer the Gardiner Pole Systems specifications chart over other info I've seen.

The 4 inch inside pole is this the minimum when reapplying the joint tape

I would not recommend less, puts to much leverage on clamps.

Are posts like this even worth a reply it does not take a genius to work out that a resi neck plus brush will give you 22ft . Mike
