hi all
Im taking someone on part time soon. he will be on £100.96 a week (16 hours)
am I right in thinking that because its under the PAYE & NI lower limit that I do not need to file R T I or even register as an employer?
I've looked on the HMRC website and that is what I have 'gathered' I tried to phone them a few times so I could actually speak to somebody, but I was on Hold forever.
thanks

my understanding is you need to register as an employee, HSE etc and have the liability in place

Can I ask why you've decided to set him on a (I assume) minimum wage?
Genuinely interested.

you will need to register him if you wish to insure him on your liability policy, they are all asking for ern now (employee ref number)

try ringing the hmrc at different times late in the day has worked for me . one thing i know for sure is do employ right ,register as an employer and crank up your efforts finding fresh work with a proper effort plan ,this will fuel the fire so to speak
