Title: belt drive pressure washer advice please
Post by: Ads on March 21, 2014, 08:53:18 am
I have a pressure washer which has a belt driven cat pump. The belt has just started to slip momentarily when idling.  Can anyone tell me how to tension the belts please.

Many thanks.

On my belt drive, the pump is bolted to adjustable mounts/feet. If i slacken off the bolts, i can push the pump back to tighten the belt, or forward to slacken it off.

I have also got threaded rods either side of my pump with nuts on it, if i tighten the nuts either side, the pump slides forward/back slightly.

You will probably have something similar where you can slacken the bolts of the pump and move it back to tighten the belt.

You will also need to keep it square to the motor pulley - as its slipping I assume its a vee belt set up

Undo the bolts on the trolley and push it a bit mine has an angle bar bolted on as a stopper
