Post by: Darran Pryce on March 19, 2014, 10:23:56 am
Guys

Any of you use a submersible pump for your IBC tank, if so which one do you use?!

Cheers

Clarke CSE2, £107.

Fills 600 L through 40M of hose and a rise of 3M in 16 minutes.

Shorter hose and more level will see much better flow rate.

I didn't go for the sub pump as the one I had (in the ibc tank) had gone funny (probably with the pure water) so opted for an external pump.

Will take a lot longer to fill the van that way

Off to look at aldi's

It's supposed to do 60l per minute, even at 50l per minute should only take around 13 mins, 10 mins at 60l per min.  Either-way, I'm happy with it.   Might checkout Aldi as a backup.

If you can get it to do 50L per minute I'll be surprised - LPM figures are rather like MPG figures for vehicles; theoretically possible.

Whatever way it works out though, it should be fine for the job.

Got the aldi one 20,000 ltrs p/h. 😍

Should fill both vans in under 10 mins 😛

Problem with booster pumps is by the time you have hose lock connectors, and hose running from tank to pump then to van the flow is reduced dramatically, mine should deliver 80 ltrs per min but takes 25 mins to fill a 1000 ltr tank times that by 2 and that's nearly an hour wasted everyday 😫

I'll let you know how the sub pump takes in reality rather than theory

Haha,

I think their are 3 of us with an A ( purple rhino being the other )

Used to be all the time, it bugged the hell out of me, but now at 47 years of age, I can't be asked to correct them especially when it's my brother or sisters..... 😁

Those of you who purchased the pump from  Aldi, did you get the reducer and the angle adapter with it, as I didn't?! Looking at the Parts page (3) it says it has one.

Got it sorted Darran.  Rang customer services who pit me through to the branch were I purchased it from.  They checked inside a box in the store and confirmed mine should have had it in.   Great water flo, well impressed!

My transfer pump is the same as Daran's new one. It sits above the ibc tank in a cupboard. I can assure you it has never been self priming. I also had to buy a footvalve (non return valve) for it.

When we had that very cold winter a couple of years ago I drained the pump to prevent frost damage. I had to prime it again to get it going.

Well it started straight off today, no priming, seven minutes later 1500 ltrs transferred into the vans 😄😄

That's gonna save me at least 35 minutes, ahhh lovely extra half hour in bed

Woooohoooo
