Title: bird muck off wooden frames
Post by: CF Facilities on March 18, 2014, 12:07:11 am
Any suggestions. Customer has a problem with birds pooping on house all the time. She has painted wooden frames and asked me to clean them. I said I would try but could not guarantee the poop has not discoloured the paintwork.

Any suggestions to perhaps make it easier. I am wfp and was just going to soak them,  do other windows and come back to them.

Thanks in advance.

If the poop in question is really bad, soaking and leaving them for a bit is standard procedure regardless of what surface. I have quite a lot of customers with wooden frames, i just treat them the same as any others. Only problems i have found comes when the paint/varnish is flaking off and it gets in your bristles.

Had one of these the other day. Put virosol in a spray bottle, diluted 1-10. Either put it on direct or spray it on your brush head. Foam it up, then leave for 5 mins. Should come off easy.

If it's dark wood frames though the ammonia in the bird muck may well have bleached the frame,

Buy some of them plastic spikes and mastic them to her roof where the birds hang around !!!! I just did this to a fellas place ontop of his loft conversion. I got the spikes from a school I do as there were loads that had fallen. I did txt to see if it did the job as his back windows were black with pooooooo he said did the job now the birds are playing on his neighbours roof he he 👍👀😳👍
