Title: Importing from USA ?
Post by: wpclean on March 17, 2014, 11:37:29 pm
Just been looking at the pressure washing gear they have for sale in the states on the Ebay, and noticed the cheaper prices.
Has anyone imported any gear from there, what are import taxes like ?

Shipping is a factor, then commodity code or Non European duty tax and then VAT on top

Well to start with there is £69 postage so now it comes up to £255.  They state no additional import tax???  I have to say I have been importing and exporting goods from all over the World since 1989 and have never known anything like this to originate from outside Europe and you not have to pay Import Duty unless it is exempt or they are having it Drop Shipped from inside the EU.  If you do have to pay import duty there will also be an admin fee from the carrier for customs clearing it and paying the import duty and VAT before delivering to you.  I don't know what they cost here but based on the info I have from the link I reckon you are looking at around £300 + VAT so could be as much as £360.  So how much are they here?  Moreover if it goes wrong are you going to send it back?  Think about it!
