I'm thinking of selling my whole round and just doing add ons. When people claim to get £60+ an hour for add on work-what's the point in cleaning windows at half the rate?
Benefits: earn so much money then take three weeks off every month instead of the usual one, travel the world every month instead of every year and have so much residual income I can retire twenty years earlier.
Don't know why I didn't think of it before :o

Good luck with that. Be sure to post some pictures of your travels.

not if I fly over the South China Sea.

Too soon!

Just up your prices so that you get £50-£60 an hour from window cleaning and then you won't need to do just the add ons? ;)
-
what they don't tell you is dave that yes they earn £60+ for a couple of hours then the van sat on the drive for the next week earning nothing ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
its all about the end of year total
-
Simple, do regular windows AND add ons.
Windows all year round and the add ons are seasonal. Then your average hourly rate will be a minimum of £60.
-
I don't know how you lads live on £60p/h. I work 100 hours a week and that would only just cover my mortgage.

Now you are catching on.............
I spend 16 weeks away every year and although we have a lot of window cleaning contracts we mostly do the "add ons"

I did 2 full exterior conservatory cleans yesterday and if I quoted them £100 each their is no way I would have got them I would love for someone on here to come to my area and get a £100 conservatory clean . Mike

A full consevatory clean would be bare minimum £100. I think its more you thinking a customer wouldnt pay that. I charge min £50 for a con roof and min £100 for a full conservatory valet! I rarely have customers saying thats too expensive! I guess it depends what sort of customers you have and target.
-
Mick I live in North East England and from my average middle class up to my millionaire customers they would not pay £100 .
I don't doubt that you are able to get jobs at those prices because of the areas you work , Seriously with respect you would get laughed at if you quoted a job up here . Mike

Laughed at, where I work a quote like that would give most of my customers a heart attack.
But to be honest if your not getting that sort of money for a full conservatory clean including the roof I
wouldn't bother doing them.
That's why I don't get many conservatory cleans.

Each of the jobs I did I earned good money for 4hrs work in total both next door to each other and pretty straight forward plus I gained them as regular custys for Windows plus another house while I was their
Nice houses on a good estate so got a foothold will be out dropping flyers next week so hopefully gain more work ;D ;D . Mike

I think Dave was referring to my post on another thread about pricing up add ons.
They are exactly that.add ons that are extra jobs on top of regular window cleaning work.
It's easy earning £50 - £60 an hour on add ons and I reckon I'm not overly expensive in pricing them up.
F/S/G jobs are usually £50-£60 for a medium size house and can be cleaned usually with an hour.
I earn that on some normal maintenance window cleaning but not hour after hour, day in,day out!
Solar panels usually £30 on houses.30 mins work!
-
Conny roofs can take a bit longer.sometimes it might be £60 and take 90 mins including set up to driving away but i aim for £50- £60 an hour.
Just depends how fast you can clean.also there is no doubt about it.add ons are harder work, harder on the body and take me away from regular window cleaning jobs.
I'm not out to rip anybody off.I charge a fair price for a good service IMO.
REGARDS

Also it's only occasionally I get customers who won't pay my prices whether it's add ons or regular window cleaning. probably around 10%.
-
with you 100% on this Dazmond add ons distract you from your regular work and are definately more taxing on the body and in most cases whatever your cleaning has been neglected and is filthy of course that attracts a premium.
-
Cleaning window is the easier money maker service as the gutter/conservatories do take more energy. I don`t think i could do a day filled with extra services.
-
I doubt you would get a cheap conservatory clean from these people...
