I've been wfd for six years and I've always used a vikan 11 inch rectangular brush as my everyday brush
I have just purchased a gardiner super lite dual trim medium bristle brush,which I used for the first time yesterday.
I found the bristles on the super lite are very soft,and also found I had less control of bristles, when cleaning top of window trying to avoid heavily soiled vents,I found the bristles touching the vents,,causing concern for runs and spotting.
When I use the vikan brush I find the bristles are firmer giving more scrubbing power when required,also with the vikan I find I have more control and find it easier to avoid soiled vents
But I have to say I did find the super lite quicker to use compared to the vikan.
What are your views on the two brushes mentioned ? In your opinion do you feel I will be as comfortable using the super lite once I get used to it ? What benefits do you find using the super lite ?
Or should I stick with the Vikan

Gardiners have a huge range of brushes at varying weights. I've always found Vikan bristles to be great but their brushes are just too heavy.
Try an Extreme brush one day and see what you're missing.

yes agreed vikan are a bit heavier,but they do last a long time.
My main concern with the super lite is the splaying of bristles,and softness

What I'm getting at is that there are different stiffness brushes throughout the range - even different splay angles so you're bound to get one that suits. Most of us have a choice of brushes for different jobs rather than using the same brush for every job.

I went back to a super lite after using an xtreme as they where not lasting long enough.
I even found them heavy so wouldn't like to go back to the vikan.
Have been using the new xtreme medium mixed for a while now and to be honest wouldn't like to use
anything else.
Great control, great scrubbing power and as light as a cork plus it seems to be lasting better than the old model.
Your wont beat a vikan for the scrubbing power but they are just too heavy.

Xtreme medium mixed or the new hybrid are both excellent brushes. The Xtremes are all I've used since the day they came out. Won't last as long as a vikan but you'll be twice as fast with less effort. ;)
Once you are confident & have mastered & understood WFP, there is no need for anything bigger or heavier than an Xtreme brush IMO. I even cut the bristled down on mine to make the approx 5mm shorter! :)

I managed a first clean on an absolutely filthy property this morning all done with a medium mixed Extreme :o
Glass very thin single pane in wooden frames. Used 400l of water but didn't look too bad.

I think the Vikan brush is incredibly good for scrubbing power and knocks spots any Gardiners brush for that type of work.
The draw back is as posted above is it's like having a brick at the end of the pole.

An Xtreme vikan would be lovely ;D However, the size & weight of a vikan outweighs everything else!

I use the Unger Nlite and think it is the best brush I've ever used.

It was your post about it before that made me buy 1, it realy is a super brush with great scrubbing power, perfect for maintance and first cleans.

If I could have a brush with the scrubbing power of a vikan at gardiners weights, I would be very happy. Even gardiners used to stock them and sing their praises. Are vikan brushes designed with wfp in mind ? I'm guessing not because otherwise they would not be so heavy ??? its the plastic stock thats the issue its just so damn chunky and heavy in comparison to a gardiners brush. In the end its a compromise I suppose, I am used to gardiners brushes now but I cannot help thinking that vikan brushes did a better job when I used them, i just could not go back to using them now due to the weight, there seems no point in buying carbon poles and then sticking a vikan on the end :( defeats the object.

Clean the window vents properly then you won't have any issues ;D ;D . Mike

I think Vikan brushes are made for the car valeting business where weight isn't a real issue.
A few years back I used to use an Ionic yellow glass fibre pole with a Vikan brush. Carbon fibre for wfp wasn't a real option as the poles at that time cost thousands. I used to get home absolutely cream crackered.

cutting down bristles sounds a good idea

I think the word scrubbing make one think that you need harder brush. I prefer agitate which I think is more of what we do.
