Hi..I use a surflow pump and the yellow and blue hosereel..and a varistream pump controller....but lately my pump to reel hose ,the connector has started popping off the reel ...it happens after I turn my tap off and the pressure builds...driving me mad ..I can even walk with my reel spinning as it pops off again...tried the stop end connectors but nothing works..any ideas guys.? Cheers

Replace the rubber o ring on the male bit of the hose reel ;)
-
Replace the connectors or if you've already done that turn the pressure setting down.
-
Too much pressure or if you have a small leak, pressure will build.
-
I have had to re do my calibration due to warmer weather, so check the DE setup!

+1. Rub vaseline on the new one before you put it on. Its creates a better seal.

i find the brass 1s work better than the plastic and don't leak as much
brass hose lock that is lol

recalibrate

Get rid of any hoselock type connectors. Some of the w/c pumps are rated 100psi or more, hoselock fittings are for garden hoses and were never designed to handle that kind of pressure - what is your tap pressure? - I guess about 50psi tops, that is all hoselock is good for imo.

Thanks for the helpful replies..yes it may be a small leak ..the pump stays on building pressure for a minute or two after I have turned tap off at the pole...will adjust the pressure now...what are the alternatives to hoselock typr fittings ?

I use these:

Thanks, i will upgrade the fittings , but i dont think the problem is the fittings really,
The hose from pump to reel looks ready to burst and pops off with the sheer strength of the water pressure building up....and as soon as i unwind the hosereel... bang ! it pops off with a powerful burst of water.....the pump used to turn off as soon as i turned off the tap.... now it stays on until my hose looks pregnant ... its only just started doing this... should i turn the pressure down from the varistream by pressing both minus and plus at the same time?
Thanks.
Gary.

I would. Sounds like way toooo much pressure
-
Yeah, something aint right. Recalibrate sounds like a good idea.

I dont knowwhat recalibrate means, but i have reduced the pressure just now, and its cured... i think, will see tomorrow at work.. thank you.

Been using Hozelock type fittings for 10 years without issue, they are more than up to the job. If the pressure in the system is so great that it blows a Hozelock fitting then there is something drastically wrong with the set up!!

What people refer to as "calibrate" means adjusting the pressure cut off value- like you've just done. ;)

Thanks again for replies... its a lot better now ive adjusted the pressure, but i still have a leak on the swivel elbow, sorted out the washers , and still the same... also its a new elbow, as i had the same problem with the old one...
they simply must be rubbish,! ;)

Are there any other swivelling connectors out there ?
